My Open Track Weekend
 

Thought I'd share some of the pictures I got from my open track event this past weekend at Eagles Canyon Raceway outside of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I got bumped to a faster run group halfway through the first day and got signed off to run solo halfway through the second day. The last session of the weekend I was keeping up with a GT3 pretty well, there were some fast cars though. I got some video also.

Damn did you have the only car there that wasn't a Porsche? LOL Looks like a good time for sure.

Well, it was an event with the Porsche club so 98% of the cars were Porsches. There was a C6 Zo6 and a Pontiac G8, that's about it.

Looks like a lotta of fun and a lotta of work. How long is that track?

That track is about 2.5 miles, 5 good straight aways and 11 turns, two spots with some good elevation change. It was a really nice track that worked well with the car. Open track driving is a lot of work, compared to autocross or drag racing, but you get so much more track time. I got four 20 minute sessions each day, it would take a long time to get that much racing time doing something else. Plus you get to go wheel-to-wheel (or bumper-to-bumper) with other cars.

Was this a real race or more like a test and tune session?

More like a Test and tune. It's called a DE or HPDE (Driver's Education, Driving Event or High Performance Driving DE). No one wins anything, just a chance to legally make the most of your car's potential in a safe enviroment with other like minded people.
