A Week of Modifications

So this entire past week I spent my time installing some upgrades. Poly front control arm bushings, Bumpsteer kit, Aerocatch hood latches, and SpikeMotoring.com HIDs. I also got a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires put on the front rims this week.

Burning out the stock control arm bushings. I used a combination of drilling out the rubber, torch, heat gun, and c-clamp to get them out.

The bushings and bumpsteer kit installed.

The bracket that I made to allow better fitmet of the pins. I made them out of some steel stock that was laying around. It took some time figuring out the dimensions and where to place the holes so that nothing interfeared. I had to cut out a bit of the plastic headlight panel.

The hole on the underside of the hood. I used vasoline on top of the pins to help locate where the holes needed to be. I had tape on the underside also. I am probably going to try and find some rubber gromets to help make it look a little cleaner. (man, the underside of the hood is dirty.)

The stencil and everything taped up on the top side of the hood.

I sat for at least an hour before making the first cuts. I used a dremel with a cutoff wheel and a sanding bit to smooth and finish the holes.

Test fitting.

Results.

I haven't gotten any good pictures of the HIDs yet but I can promise you they are super bright and well worth the money. I can see everything at night now. The overall results and improvements of the car is very good. I was really supprised how big of a difference the bushings and bumpsteer kit made. The front of the car is much more responsive. The hood latches are a bit of a pain to install but turned out good. I don't have to worry about the hood flying up on my anymore. The HIDs were needed and I consider them a saftey improvement. I can see much better at night now and they look great. I have a lot more pictures so if you want to see something let me know.

It's a shame the bumpsteer kit stay out of sight cause they look good. I like the hood latch 2.

I will probably never have fog lights unless I get a 03/04 Cobra bumper. I run my front brake ducts to where the fog lights go. You can see the front of the ducts in the first picture of the front of the car.

Do you have brake ducts on the rear as well? It kind of looks like it, but I may just be seeing things.

Do you have any idea where I can get shorter bolts for my steering rack?

Yeah, ducts on the back also, they just don't have a fancy plate to direct the air as well. I don't know of a certain place to get shorter steering rack bolts right now but if you look on Corner-Carvers.com you can sometimes find a decent source for hardware.
