My little weekend project.
 

So I had some LEDs that I bought a while back to switch out all of the ugly ass green interior buttons. I was a little skeptic of experimenting with taking apart my entire interior and everything. I had the ambient lighting package with my car from factory, but always hated the green lights everywhere else.

Well, since it snowed and I was snowed in I figured what the hell I'll just get on with it.

And after almost 14 hours of work it came out pretty fucking sweet. I had tear apart the center console, the dash, the door panels, and the radio to get to all of the LEDs. I have to figure out how to change the green plastic in the radio display and the dash display to change the color of it, but that'll be another project.

And, the final product. The pictures make them look a lot lighter than what they are. They match the gauges almost perfectly and are probably twice as bright as the stock green LEDs. But they look sweet and really make it stand out a lot more.

All in all, for about $30 it was way way worth it. I can now say it's a one-off interior. If anyone wants the write-up I can make it if you want. Real simple actually, most stuff just pops off and all you really need is some good soldering skills and a friend to hold the LEDs still while you solder them. I created a video, lol, but I have to wait for my buddy to get it off of his camera.

Thanks man. Over 70 LEDs I had to solder, and everytime I was scared shitless that i had fucked them up. Circuit boards are real sensitive to heat and some of the LEDs were smashed so close to other pieces that I was almost sure it would fuck them up. But the only problem I had was one bad LED that I either burnt, or was bad from the start.

Came out much better than I thought. No bright spots, no nothing.

That was pretty much the main idea. I wanted the other mustang guys at school to be like WTF! lol.

I wish we had car shows, but it fucking snows so much here I don't think people actually care. I'd love to just put my car in a show once. Even though it's nothing super special I'd still like to.

That's why I'm moving to FL when i graduate. No more damn snow.

nice job. I've had a few dashes apart...tedious shit. and then the LED installs...super tedious shit. Looks great.

Well worth the pain though. It was the best feeling to plug it in after soldering all the LEDs and to see it light up.

That looks awesome. Did you know Ford makes the buttons ugly ass green for a reason though, lol? Has to do with the wavelengths and night vision.

Lol. Yea I thought about doing it to the Cobra and then when I got inside of it to see what I'd have to take apart I realized that really there is only the window/lock buttons and then the bottom three buttons.

Yea i know they do that green because it doesn't interfere with your vision even on full brightness, but oh well. HIDs are next for the Cobra and the GT so it'll balance back out lol. :D My logic.

Well I mean I'd go to Texas, but then I'd be surrounded by Supras. So I'd much rather go to FL.

No dude. Fuck Texas. Bi-Polar weather, and 115 degree summers, fuck this. Im moving when im older. Also great job dude, im waay to much of a pansy to tear apart my car like that. :( And yeah blue leds do mess with your nightvision because my radar is blue, and i gotta dim it down or it messes with me.

I haven't drove it at night yet, but I'm sure the dimmer won't be at max like it always was with the green LEDs. Luckily I can adjust the brightness of the LEDs separate from the gauges.

and that will be the savior of the mod. haha. looks amazing though man. I love that color blue, its nice.
Im no where near good enough to do that, plus with the 95 there isnt really that much to do.

I checked them individually as I got them done, but yes still the same. My buddy that was there with me was sitting there going "Come on, come on" just so we didn't have to tear it back apart and redo the LEDs lol.

Working on something as tedious as that at 4-5 a.m. makes you very touchy. If one of them would've fucked up I probably would've just thrown it in the snow outside and said fuck it lol.

When I plugged everything back in I went to turn the key on and nothing lit up...my heart just dropped. Then I realized I forgot to hook the battery back up lol..fail on my part. :D

Awesome stuff...that's a really neat, subtle mod. Only someone a true mustang enthusiast would notice. Very nicely done.
