zigzagg321 08-15-2009 02:09 PM

the dude with the truck traded down to ugly.

WNRacing 08-15-2009 06:21 PM

Looks like a good trade to me. Each vehicle looks better than it did before.

SnTBakosFinest 08-15-2009 07:04 PM

...why would you do that to a ranger :(

Switch 08-16-2009 02:07 AM

Your car looks way better. I still think you should remove the door guard.

zigzagg321 08-16-2009 08:21 AM

the ranger looked WAAAAAAY better with the Saleen style wheels.

I'm pretty sure if you just take a small screw driver and wrap it in a thin cloth to prevent scratching, you can just pry it off. Wait till someone else chimes in, though. I've never taken them off before.

If it's anything like removing emblems then you can just use a heat gun/hairdryer to loosen the adhesive. I'm not sure if that is how they are attached though.

there's a really nasty black adhesive GUNK underneath those door guards, i took mine off last year. prepare to do some polishing when youre done taking them off.

i started by applying some heat (use a hair dryer, NOT a heat gun, you'll jack up the paint if you're not careful) and start at the end until you can peel it up. move slowly and start peeling/applyling heat a little section at a time until youre done. don't worry about the black gunk that's left over until you're done. it took me nearly a week to get it all off. just go slow and you'll be good.

thats some good advice,, ill take a look into it.. so they are strictly like door guards? is that their actual purpose or did older mustangs have them?

I'm pretty sure their only purpose is to protect the door from getting dinged by people opening their car doors and hitting yours.

NeedACobra 08-16-2009 10:24 PM

yeah...those door guards dont do to good of a job protecting your door.....the one on the drivers side is just about cut in half on my car from where I hit my buddies door. Its really an eye sore. But hey, now I know how to take them off.

Take a piece of string and loop it behind the trim on one end and srart pulling back and fourth like a saw. Be careful and take your time and it will come right off.

Clean the remaining stuff off with GooGone. Job Done, Drink Beer!

Take care not to switch the last step to the front or you might not get anything done.

Those 20's should be destroyed. Those are some ugly-ass wheels.

LilMissLayla 08-17-2009 02:34 PM

Yeah. Looks way better without those ugly things! :)
