I think it's a '51 if I'm not mistaken. That style of tail lights looks to be from the 50s

INtZ 06-05-2009 10:26 AM

i was hoping to see an earlier skyline like an r34 or something. them new gtr's are sick though

01FR500 06-05-2009 10:29 AM

For some reason I've seen a lot of those, they've even showed up at a couple autoX events.

08mustang_gt 06-05-2009 10:37 AM

They're nice......as long as you don't turn of Launch Control. Or drop the clutch too hard. Or try to mess with it on your own. But, they're nice.

TUFF 4.6 06-05-2009 10:51 AM

Hey, I've been lost at that intersection before. This is Miami right? I was looking for Mr. Lift in a little run down industrial park behind the Trift Store. Can't remember the street name.

Next question what in the hell is a Skyline?

really? uhh... the new nissan gtr is the next generation nissan skyline. the skyline is a twin turbo straight 6 awd coupe, IMO the greatest car to come from japan. there's been a skyline in every fast and furious, forza, gran turismo. besides the new gtr(which really isnt a skyline), there are maybe only a handful here in the states

Yes, you're right. My mistake. ;)

They're overpriced and slow. They get beat by a bone stock z06.

Well to give the GTR some credit, it does have less hp and weighs more than a stock ZO6 so yeah it's gonna get beat. I wouldn't say it's slow though.I think it could be a cool car if they dropped the wweight and got rid of all the launch controls and computer crap. The older skylines were pretty sweet though.

Haha, it's not getting any credit from me.

The GTR is $3,000 more than the Z06, slower, breaks after 30 launches, has no warranty on the transmission after it's been launched, oh yeah and only comes in an automatic.

The only thing it has going for it is that it's a damn good looking car.

It should be more than the Z06, because it's built a hell of a lot better and comes with all wheel drive. I would take one of those over a Corvette any day. And it comes with a paddle-shifted twin-clutch 6 speed gearbox, which is nothing like a normal automatic with a torque converter. As far as the Z06 being faster, that does not sound right to me. Even the ZR1 with its 647hp engine only beat the GTR by 3 seconds around Nurburgring ( ZR1 7:26, GTR 7:29.) The Z06 did far worse, scoring a time of 7:42. Unless you were referring to 0-60 times, which are useless IMO.

i would take a Z06 over it just becouse its automatic.

SPiNz 06-05-2009 06:00 PM

That one belongs to some young arab guy. Hes always at the monday hangouts over on US1 where the fudrockers use to be.

The GTR that went around the nurburgring was not stock. It was modified.

It has all wheel drive. It doesn't really need launch control on dry pavement.

King 06-06-2009 06:53 PM

It seems like you've been Mr. Negativity since you've sold the Mustang, Dave. And I know that if you had the option of trading in that Civic for a GTR you would do it in a heartbeat.

Nissan says the launch control feature of the GTR is for getting out of mud or snow/ice.

Poor observation, Nick.

I disliked Nissans when I owned my Mustang.

And I dont drive the Civic, I got that car for the woman to drive.

As I recall each engine is tuned by hand from the factory (may only be overseas though) so every one has different specs, regardless of what the paperwork says.

Exactly. You only need it when launching in less than desirable conditions. Similar to my Audi, though I actually have to turn something off when doing that.

This statement is only HALF true. The GTR that they timed on that track was a european spec GTR wich has a LOT less restraints on emmissions and other crap that holds the horses back from reaching the pavement. The US and and US Customs has so much bull shit that importers have to abide by that most products arrive at our shores very different then initionnally intented.

So the new GTR IS indeed faster than the Z06 Vette, a little bit slower than the ZR1, but I dont think there is another car made (mass produced anyway) that has a better "total package" than this Nissan. This car is fast as hell in a straight line, and can handle like no other car in its class.

So HELL YEAH. . . . I would definately take a GTR over a ZR1.
