Changed my oil....

Changed my oil this weekend, but i figured id call greenway ford and see how much they wanted for an oil change ($85.00) same syn-blend oil i spent ($20.00) @ walmart and about 45 min. (had to jack up the car to get underneath it and cleaned the underside of the motor while the oil was draining out). Anyhow this is what i used (oil is oil).

85 bucks for an oil change...when i took my car to the stealership back when i first got the car (8 years ago) i was only charged 30-35 bucks.

That's why I change the oil myself.

PColav6 04-26-2009 01:51 PM

Lol...I will never in my life take any of my cars to ANYONE for an oil change.

stanger00 04-26-2009 02:02 PM

just dont forget to remove the old gasket from the old filter, LOL.

The guy must have mis-understood you... oil changes are like 20-30 bucks. Usually I change mine but last summer I took it in after I moved states.. it was like 30 or close to that

Much cheaper....and rewarding....to do it yourself. Takes me about 20 minutes and I know I have good oil going thru er' instead of recycled wal-mart bs.

I always take mine to the Dealership. It's only like $20 and it's worth it to me.I would'nt take my lawnmower to Wal Mart for a oil change though.

my neighbor had the old gasket stick on the engine and he didn't realize it till he saw a river of oil going down his driveway about ten minutes after he changed his oil

but to the original post, taking your car somewhere for an oil change seems like such a waste of money with the price they charge. doing it yourself is well worth the fifteen twenty minutes. unless you are physically unable to i don't see why anyone would

Also change it myself. Not only is it cheaper, you know the job is done right.

The oil changes for my Audi were ridiculous. 8 quarts of Mobil 1 0W-40, a $30 filter, and they charged 1 hour of labor ($115.) And oil change places weren't that much cheaper, since they charge extra for cars that have belly pans (which mine has.) Hence why I started doing it myself :)

damn that would suck. when i had my 2005 scion xB i took it to Toyota to get the oil changed and it was $40

SOOO much cheaper to do it myself. I can get two OEM filters online for less than the price of one "dealer" filter.

lol I work for a quick lube and us and dealerships RAPE YOU lmao just save the $$$ and do it yourself. Plus one guy i work with has blown up one car and almost 3 others lol
