so for it sitting in the shop it looks really good. i will take some more pictures tomorrow in the sun but i am sad, i don't have tire shine or wheel cleaner so they are still dirty)

Stephen4036 01-01-2009 09:46 PM

does your lense have dirt spots. in the one pic theres big blotches all over your front bumper

SxyXc 01-01-2009 09:54 PM

my front plate looks that way because of the flash on my camera..

and on the last picture of the first group that spot below the drive side headlight is a sport where my clear had come off... my front bumper is starting to peel everywhere..

I don't understand the point of spending so much money on waxes. Get the turtle wax ICE and call it a day. It looks just as good as those $100 kits for all the fancy crap. Wax does not look good unless the car has absolutely nothing wrong with it (ie. paint chips, sun fade, dents, etc.). It only brings out the flaws. I can take my car through the car wash and do ten minutes of hand work and it looks just as good as if I paid $125 to get it "detailed".

IMO....

+1

SxyXc 01-01-2009 11:25 PM

well my car needed the fine-cut cleaner since it has lots of swirl marks and such, as for the wax, they both were only $10 so its as much as buying two turtle wax ice, and yea the turtle wax makes it shine, but for an almost 12 year old paint job, the good stuff brings depth back into the paint more...

The Meguiars Professional Hi-Tech Yellow Wax #26 is some damn good stuff for sure.Good job!

Don't let these guys fool you,the better the wax the better the coverage and protection for your paint.I wax all of my vehicles every chance I get and my paint still looks like it did the day I bought it or even better.

In my opinion, Meguiar's isn't expensive at all. It's incredibly worth it for the price you pay. I'd pay $100 for a kit if I was definitely satisfied with the results. For me, Turtle Wax Ice is shitty. Takes too much effort to wipe off and no matter how much I wipe, I still end up with residue. With Meguiar's, I've never had that. I do not agree with your statement about how 'wax does not look good unless the car has absolutely nothing wrong with it'. My '05 is in decent condition. I have a small dent on it (you couldn't see it unless I pointed it out), swirl marks, and like two paint chips on it, but if you saw how damn shiny and flawless my car is after I do a good wash/wax job on it, you'd probably drool all over the place.

I will never pay to have my car detailed. I feel like I can do a better job myself and save my money. I love to wax my car and I plan on doing it this weekend. I may even post up some pictures.

And SxyXc, your car looks great! Wonderful job! :)

Well lance, all i want is for my car to look like your old cobra in pictures. i mean OMG. your cobra is just jaw dropping, because the shine and depth it has in picutres

Steeda97 01-02-2009 08:57 AM

The quality of the wax DOES matter.

I have Pinnacle Souveran and it works great.

And just hand wash the car. Car washes FTL. lol.

mustangvsix 01-02-2009 11:09 AM

a nicer wax will definitely prove to be worth it. and by all means avoid car washes if you care one bit about your cars paint, those things are horrible, especially if you use the touchless ones, or the brush in the ones where you do the work.

and to SxyXc looks like you did a great job.

SxyXc 01-02-2009 11:14 AM

Took it out today for some daylight pics. it was kinda windy so there is dust all over the car. its hiding its true shiny. oh and for the scene thats about the best we have in Lubbock

Looks like a great day to ride with the top down! The scenery there looks like something from a horror movie. Movie title: Death by Tumbleweed. Synopsis: "Guy in a Mustang goes to take pictures of his car after a great wash and wax job. He ends up getting stranded. The tumbleweeds in the distance see this, and they start to plan his demise..."

Sorry man. I just can't help it. :o

SxyXc 01-02-2009 11:36 AM

can anyone photocop my mustang to make it look like its been lowered.. i want to show my mom how much better it will look.... i can take another picture of it if yall need it.

King 01-02-2009 11:37 AM

Car looks good. As for scenery, might try some sunset pics (not directly facing the sun of course) and try to match the shine on horizon to the cars body lines...all minus flash. I think the flash is killing you in all of these pictures.

if you take a profiled pic I can lower it for you.

SxyXc 01-02-2009 11:39 AM

i am gettin use to my new camera, but yes i have been wanting to do a sunset picture.. i was actually thinking about almost the same place for it.. it has a ncie sunset behind it, i just have to be ready at 6 when it goes down.

King 01-02-2009 11:48 AM

What I do for sunset pics is turn off flash (I'm sure there is a way), and take pictures aiming away from the sun. You probably don't want to take a picture directly away from the sunset, or you'll likely see the camera in the cars reflection.

mustangV6_04 01-02-2009 12:01 PM

Looks great. I would lower it and put a light bar on it. I love verts when they have the light bar.

Black Sunshine 01-02-2009 12:40 PM

I also have to add that I love seeing an SN95 that is loved and taken care of. I don't see hardly any in my area, but there is one that is red and looks gorgeous. So even more kudos to you for taking care of that paint. :)

SxyXc 01-02-2009 01:32 PM

So i just got back from this crazy Mustang hunting experiment. boy do they look beautiful in the natural habit, eating... Haha

Thats probably because $125 is a rather cheap detail. Bring it to a real professional and if you still cant tell the difference than you need glasses.

SxyXc- looks like theres holograms or some type of marring in the paint. Take a up close picture with sunlight directly on the paint.

SxyXc 01-02-2009 04:21 PM

well, i know i had some swirl marks, i re-buffed today and took most of them out. i will take a close up tomorrow in the light

03gtmustang 01-02-2009 04:24 PM

It looks more like buffer marks and holograms, especially on the front bumper.

SxyXc 01-02-2009 04:24 PM

the front bumper has lots of clear coat missing, its the only spot on my car that has peeled...

1. Your car is brand new, if you couldn't take it through a car wash and have a beautiful shine I'd be wondering WTF you'd been doing to your car..
2. ICE is a good wax if you want to wax your car 5-6 times a year. It has been proven over an over again that it breaks down much more quickly than any of those "expensive" waxes.

Spend some time on a real auto detailing forum and you'll learn.. :)

SxyXc: Your car looks pretty good, can't really expect to see a HUGE improvement in paint that is 12 years old and had most likely been neglected at some point throughout it's life. Keep working on it! You definitely need to drop it a little though!
