|
I can't wait till it thaws out he in Michigan so the autox can start again I miss it so much. Before it can start I have a few suspension mods to do but with the way the weather is I've got plenty of time.

Nice.
Bet those struts/shocks/springs helped you a lot, lol. |

haha, the slalom cones plus my rear tires got very well acquainted on occasion.
The spring and dampers did help but the SFC's helped just as equally for overall "feel" of the car, made it feel like the front was connected to the rear. You never realize how floppy the Mustang is untill you start stiffen it up. |
Damn, I'm so jealous.
I guess a V6 with a lot of suspension work and some bolts ons (or supercharged) + tune would be decent enough for auto-x right? Would relocating the battery to the trunk help any? |

With the few mods I have I am already and Street Mod, but I don't really care about that. It's all about having fun, it's hard to be competative in a Mustang. |

I wouldn't even recommend much for performance improvements other than a T-lock, as long as it's manual. Horsepower isn't what helpes you for a autocross course(unless it has huge straights in a big parking lot). The cars that kick ass in AutoX are miatas, minis, MR2s, that kind of stuff. I beleive a v6 could do just as good as a v8, maybe even have an advantage of having less front end weight. As long as you didn't want to run a certain class, lots of suspension work, moving the battery, would help make a better performing mustang. Race tires make a big difference. A good driver is the best mod.

Alright, and yeah my car is an auto as well :(.
I was planning on swapping in a GT rear end plus new gears and getting an xcal2 to help out with that. I plan on going to the next couple of races in the area to watch and then start driving in them. |

definitely do, and if you can get one of the older more experienced guys out there, see if one will let you ride with him, and if someone will ride with you, then you can watch from inside the car to get a feel for it, as well as get some knowledgeable feed back on how you are driving, where you hands should be, etc.
