Hey cobra guys!
pulled this off a thread on a mustang club im in! Tell me this is not insane HP!
The Newest Hellion Turbo System shown at SEMA... Produces 1600HP Retail would be around $7400.00 (Just For The Kit!) http://www.hallowen.freehosting.net/...013[1].JPG |
May god have mercy on the soul of anyone who buys one of those...
|
I bet that thing would blow a stock cobra engine in seconds. lol...
|
lol, yeah, but that is insane, i did not think it was possible!
|
Its awesome but not realistic for a street car.

why not? with the advances in tuning, itll make 8lbs, and with the press of a button on a tuner, or a laptop, your looking at 25+psi. sounds perfect to me. great thing about turbos is just because they are there, doesnt mean they are being used.
|
Trying putting that down on street tires. Its not all about HP and who makes the most but who can lay it down on the road.
|
wasn't it callaway that tried to do a super and turbo charged vette.... blazing power and totally useless car with really stagey boost. It'd be nice if you could clutch the blower so it only comes on to give boost under 3500rpm and let the turbos blow through it above that. much more efficient.

03/04 cobra motors were built with forged internals. a guy in the SVTOA Nashville Club I am in has a red 03 with a Whipple 2.3, and he's running 17 pounds of boost, on his stock 03 cobra motor. Makes 630 rwhp. |
there's a big difference between 1600hp and 600hp. The extra thousand is something of a mean spirited bitch to try and keep contained. You can't use the termy engine as is with any hope of durability after about 700rwhp. Then it's time for better head sealing and more bottom end work, harder bearings, ARP stud kits, blah blah blah blah... = big $
Termy engines are no doubt great strong beasts but just having forged internals doesn't make them bullet proof. Detonation kills forged pistons too...it just takes longer. |
I saw this setup on another forum. Hellion says it can work with the factory blower, but from what I've read, the people who have ran it gutted the factory blower, so the blower pretty much becomes an idler pulley, and they just run the twins...So, you think your racing a eaton blown cobra, till you hear the blow off valve's as they whiz by you...
Hellion does make a mean kit. Friend of mine has a hellion twin setup on his 2v 2001 GT, and he just put down 765 at the wheels on a mustang dyno two weeks ago when we were at the shop for dyno day. |
umm hate to burst your bubbles but this works on the stock block...
they have been testing it on an 03/04 cobra...it was making something like 44psi...it has made many passes down the track...but they upped the boost and the heads lifted. 03/04 cobra internals are already forged... |

So I'll repeat: Forged internals don't mean dick. They still break, it just takes longer and they normally bend first, then break. |

Yeah I highly doubt a stock cobra can take 1600hp for very long. The horsepower is starting to get really rediculous. It's almost like who cares about driving the car, lets just see how much power we can get and call it a day. Vipers are easily doing like 1500hp now with twin turbo kits and thats just not enough apparently.
|
a 400hp/tq car is more than most people can handle day to day. Beyond that you need to add weight or something to bring the street manners back and calm it down. We could all probably make due with 450rwhp so it kinda boggles my head that 600-700 is the new mark to hit for all the joe blow's out there. Why... when 300-400 will break parts and speed limits just as well.
Find your happy spot and shoot for it. I found mine :P |
