I'd like to live where window tint (not to mention windshield) THAT dark is legal...

whitethunder46 10-28-2006 09:35 PM

I thought someone posted that same cobra a few weeks ago. Looks freakin hot though. My new car is definately going to be black.

I wouldn't make it a half mile from my house without getting pulled over for that tint here...looks damn good though...

Ghostalker 10-28-2006 09:48 PM

I like the way your cobra looks better in the pics, front = sexier... better lighting! =D
having legal tint on the front is ok because all the other windows would be tinted, so it would appear much darker anyhow!

foncarelli 10-28-2006 09:49 PM

You need coilovers to get that stance.

dsdaddy 10-28-2006 09:54 PM

What do you think...not too noticeable, right? :salook:

+1...Thats the only way you could get that low and not hit your head of the roof then you hit a bump

GREG@SN95 10-28-2006 10:29 PM

you need some coil overs

Oh NO you don't :)

The guy post on SVT and those are the stock spring's that have been cut!If I remove my front Iso's I'm right there believe me :) Part of my X pipe right now is only about an inch to a inch and a half off the ground. He is also running 17's on there.

Badfish 10-29-2006 01:08 AM

you dont sit even close to that low

White04GT 10-29-2006 01:31 AM

Yea man that cobra right there is slammed to the max. deffiantly not a DD car..

SnTBakosFinest 10-29-2006 01:38 AM

Its a hot Cobra no doubt..

Sits really low.. adjustable coilovers ftw though..like Eibachs or w/e..

I need to check up on tint laws in my state.. i'd like to get like that dark BMW tint on my side windows and on my back window..i jsut need to see about my windshield x=

wnracing 10-29-2006 01:08 AM

No doubt that is one bad ass COBRA.. But I don't think I would do coilovers, honestly.. Yours would look just as raked with the bigger wheel in the back. It really almost looks like he's got 17" 's in the front.

If I was you lance, i'd just get the 10.5" 's, the tint, and call it a day.. You'll be close to the desired look, and you won't be killing your back while drivin' down the road... lol :breakdancesmilie:

SnTBakosFinest 10-29-2006 01:27 AM

lol..speedbumps will be hell :D

You would be surprised at how low my car actually sit's Jon.My Magnaflow X pipe never scrapped on the GT but the one I have on the Cobra scrapes all the time.

He has 17's all the way around. And no way am I doing coilovers.I sit low enough for the roads around here for sure.I'm actually thinking of getting the Black Chrome 03 Cobras in 17's.The cost of the 315's and the 18x10's would cost me more than just getting new 17's and tires all the way around.

I know I could sell my 18's here for around $800 to $1000 locally.

littledonko 10-29-2006 05:30 AM

I wish roads up here were smooth enough for that low of a clearance.

mcmmotorsports 10-29-2006 06:56 AM

Yes, that look is damm hot, HOWEVER, he has some major Negative Camber issues on the front and that is not good for handling or tire wear. :nono:

haha, mines the same way with the H&R SS's my x pipe is about 2 inches off the ground the damn SLP x pipe hangs so frigen low its annoying!

yellowstang99 10-29-2006 08:52 AM

That is a hot car, but honestly I like your car better Lance as it is now. I like 18's better than 17's and you can still hit a small pothole without losing your exhaust. That car is almost too low, you couldn't go too far without ripping the bumper off of it. Like everyone says, wouldn't be a candidate for a daily driver. Between the two, I would chose yours, but thats just my opinion. You have good taste and I'm sure whatever you do will look great!

venom 10-29-2006 09:18 AM

Where do you guys live that it can be that low? Lance all you need is wider tires in the rear. The tints are really dark and dangerous as you will need a rear mounted camera to see through those but it looks like his windshield may have tints. His Cobra does look nice but it probably rides real bad and has to replace tires quite frequently. I say airbags are the way to go if you want it that low.

Yeah, I noticed that too but it wqas late and I forgot to mention it.. lol

Lance, You are really thinking about putting black rims on your car?? http://www.mcmmotorsports.com/smilies/thumbsdown.gif I really think you'd be happier if you just gor the 18X10.5" 's in the back.. Just can't see your car with black rims.... :nunu: lol

Lances03SVT 10-29-2006 03:09 PM

Nope.I considered them but have changed my mind.

jadartt 10-29-2006 11:13 PM

I've just found my new desktop. Black FTW

If only I had someone to keep it clean for me and I'd have a black one too.

Lance,

I almost thought those were freaking 18s in the back of that one pic. What springs does that cobra have? It's got a serious hot staggered look going on.

we should take pics of your car sometime.. maybe in the spring ill make a trip to MO ;)

its got cut stock springs

and lance..if u cut ur existing springs a half coil you can probably pull that same look off....from comparing ur pic to his..it looks like the rear is the same height and the front is a little bit lower

I'll have to disagree in part.

I run -1.6 camber MINIMUM on the street any my tires wear evenly and at a normal rate. They've always been set pretty stiffly to the negative for a good reason. Negative camber isn't "bad" for cornering in and of its own. Camber gain is bad for cornering and common to the 79-04 mustang front suspension. The whole reason for running negative camber in our cars (minus those with Griggs SLA setup) is to offset the effect of camber gain on cornering and keep the tire as close to vertical while turning as possible for maximum contact patch size. As well as dealing with camber gain, the tread on the sticky tires we like to use likes to crawl under the rim taking the sidewall to a discreetly diagonal attitude compared to how it looks at rest. By adding a bit of negative camber you keep the whole tire evenly planted on the road while the sidewalls are under extreme cornering load which does give you a better handling car. The key is to find that point that gives you the best balance of overall grip, mid-corner grip and turn-in grip with the smallest possible change from straight vertical.

My aggressive setting is -2.5deg

If your alignment takes into account your camber setting when setting the toe then your alignment will be tire friendly. If you jack up the caster all the way as far as you can then you'll get the turn-in rapidity that most people confuse with a well handling car and you will be happy with more camber. That will give you the snappy turn-in you want but it'll keep its feet on the ground through the apex and on to the exit.

EDIT: I should clarify. Excess negative camber is bad for handling. In race applications I find that to be in the -3.5+ range. Street cars start seeing issues at much lower settings. More than -2deg should be avoided for street oriented cars. My agro setting is intended for track days or serious attempts at a new record time on old calaveras rd.
