Nice Cobra....congrats. So how does the snake run?

Well,it has a bbk cold air and underdrive pullys. Some thing has been done to the exhaust but have looked to see what. I wouln't have it home till Friday. It was too late to make it to the bank and I work twelve hour days for the next two. Just gave him some to hold it till then.

Looks great man, one of my fav. body styles for the cobra :D

Very nice! I've always thought those wheels were one of the best looking factory wheels that a mustang had!

Its a 96 or a 97 since its got the STB and the rims, cant tell too much beyond that.

Good solid car though, have some fun w/ it.

Clean those IMRC's first before you really start beating on it and get that rear changed to a 4.10...you'll be glad you did :).

Edit: Looks like the name plate thing is a paper one, which makes me belive its a 96 and not a 97.

Its a 96'. I had 3.73's in the GT and like them pretty well. If I do change the gears is down the road a bit. Springs will be frist. Man my GT handled soooooo good with the ones I had in it,I'v got to do the same to this.

Your gonna wish you went with 3:90 or 4:10's....the 4 vavle engine is a different creature than your GT. Again, very very nice car, but I'm happy to see the tac is going bye bye....I think it's gay to have a huge tac when you don't have a S/C or spray. Just my lame opinion. :punk:

Intake Manifold Runner Control Valves.

If you take off your upper intake manifold you will see a set of ports heading into your heads that have butterfly valves over them. They are your IMRC's. Ford put them into the early 32V 281's in order to get the low end torque picked up. They open up full fledge once you get to around 3250RPM. Many people choose to delete them to get better flow, but those people also put a steep rear end gear in (4.10 or higher).

These Teksid Blocked Cobra's with the older heads can use these controls, and they do pretty well for their function. The only problem is, they do have a habit of getting stuck closed when you dont want them to. This shuts off your secondary ports from pulling in the air that they need. This can cause you to run REAL lean, and thats no good. You will burn those valves up REAL quick.

You can clean the IMRC's with some carb cleaner if you have a free saturday afternoon. Its worth it. Cleaning those things make a HUGE difference, as they can get gummed up after lots of miles. It also gives you the chance to clean your intake up a little bit, plus you learn ALL about your pretty engine block.

Believe it or not, the late 02-04 V6's have these to pick up on low end torque as well. It's a smart little invention.

I have the instructions on how to clean them if you want to see. Its quite easy. Only removing bolts, the fuel rail and injectors to get to the plates (the butterfly valves are in the middle of an aluminum plate, about 1.5in thick). You gotta drain the coolant too, but its a good excuse to add some Royal Purple Purple Ice coolant. I have it in my car and it works REAL well.

Also, if you plan on driving the car hard, make sure you keep a spare quart of 5w20 on hand or something like that. These 32v DO eat up a little bit of oil if driven hard. Don't be suprised if you find a little oil in your intake, thats pretty normal as these cars have a little blowback. Get a nice motorcraft PCV valve and you will be good as gold.

If you have any other questions lemme know. These blocks are really nice. ****ing AWESOME if you build them up (the teksid aluminum blocks are lightweight, but can hold up to 1200hp if built up nicely), but they need a nice bottomend setup in order to do so. I know people who have been on these blocks, stock for up to 250k miles. Very very strong.
