If you want a couple of pictures of my car to practice on let me know :breakdancesmilie: ....I love that transparent hood thing...just don't know how to do it or even have the tools to do it.

it is simple in theory:
get camera, put it on tripod. place the tripod. open hood take picture(don't move camera once picture is done) close hood. take picture with the hood closed. now take the two pictures and overlay them on a photoshop program and make one semi transparent and the other photo just leave alone, and then you have a cool picture like above. the only problem is taking a good picture:breakdancesmilie:

btw dsdaddy sweet pic.

Thanks for the comments!

I work with a guy who's a Photoshop Pro. Hopefully one of these days I can get some good tips from him that I can actually keep up with. He starts talking about different tools and settings and I get lost. I envy anybody that has mastered Photoshop. :worship2:

Like the way yours came out. I wanted to get one from the side like that but I only had time to snap the two pics I needed for the first one before it started raining. I'm gonna try and get some more later this week with a more scenic backdrop and see how bad I can screw those up!

BTW: you're not the only one who tried to copy Christie!

I think everyone here bows down to her photo-taking skills!

Here is how I tried to copy her.

Thanks!!!
I turned up the brightness a little on the 2nd layer since the original pic was a little darker than I wanted.

But wouldn't that mean that the opened hood would show up too?

i meant to add in their that you use a cutting tool and cut out the engine bay and lay that piece not the whole photo onto the photo with the hood closed...:o

I used a different method...make the first layer the pic with the hood open, layer the pic with the hood closed over that one and then use the eraser with the flow and hardness adjusted to how transparent you want the hood to be and start removing the part of the hood you want gone. :breakdancesmilie:

Here's my second attempt...close-up...

old topic I know, but I gave this hood thing a go too,

I can't seem to get the edges to fade softly like you guys', whenever I lower the hardness, it just makes it in circle form and it's hard to make it look smooth.. =\

More practice I guess
