That actually looks pretty good. I think I'll have to try that....

oznium.com

look for cold cathodes. I used the 4" ones for the engine bay. the 12" ones are like $8 for a pair or 12" tubes with transformer.

the best thing is you really have to look for the tubes to see them. In the daytime if you didnt knwo they were there you wouldnt see them at all. At night you can see them if you bend down and look under the shaker.

The two 4" tubes IN the shaker dont make as much light as I wanted it to but I had to trade that to make sure the tube wasnt seen. There is a fine line between ricey and done right with light stuff.

TUBAGE IS REAL BAD

PColav6 08-19-2006 11:01 AM

unique..

zigzaggthefag321 08-19-2006 11:48 AM

never seen that before. if yur showing your car at night then i guess there is no better way.

AREA 51 08-19-2006 12:23 PM

thanks guys!!

The lights are really small and easy to hide. For $8 a pair you cant beat it if you wanna do something like that?

tiny huh? HA HA

Tools:

16ga wire.
electrical tape
butt connectors
quick disconnects
(2) 15amp in line fuse
cathodes with transformer

What you need to know:

1) The transformers come with fixed white wires to the cathodes. These wires cant be shortened or made longer as the light from the tube will be greatly effected. These wires are only 10" long to the transformer so if you need light under the dash then use 1 tube with 1 transformer on each side. The transformers are only $2 a piece so its worth it for the amount of light you get.
2) FUSE THESE!!!!! Nothing worse than burning down your favorite ride because you shorted something out you put in and didnt fuse it. You only need to wire in a fuse to the power line running to your switch. Run a wire directly from your batter to your interior and the positive side of the toggle switch. Find a spot in the engine bay that is easy to access and put a 15amp in line fuse somewhere in that wire.....closest to battery the best. You arent trying to protect your $8 neon you are trying to protect your $30K car!!! Next put another fuse just before your switch to ensure double protection. All you do is cut your power wire and use the butt connectors to wire in your fuse.
3) Once the switch has power then wrap your entire transformer in electrical tape to make sure no water gets inside it as this is where failure happens. The tubes themselves are watertight.
4) I use 3M super duty outdoor double stick tape to mount my bulbs (ENGINE BAY TOO) it holds up best and is easy to remove if you want to without residue glue would leave
5) hide the wires and hide the tubes.....nothing worse than not taking time to do it right and not hide them as this looks like crap

Here is a diagram of how to wire them.

*Power source to positive of switch
*Ground somewhere in car to switch ground
*Ground from switch to ground of transformer
*positive of switch to positive of transformer

plug in cathodes wires to transformer.

Hit the switch and you should have light. The easist way is to wire them up in practice before ever installing in the car to test them out. simply plug the lights into the transformer and touch the transformer wires to the appropriate sides of battery terminal. if they dont light you either have the wrong terminal or they arent plugged in fully

95STANG 08-20-2006 04:00 PM

I like it. Maybe some more light out of the shaker and around the radiator cover.

Badfish 08-20-2006 04:08 PM

Badfish 08-20-2006 04:50 PM

whats that panel on your roof?

nice lookin mach btw

MattJ 08-20-2006 04:55 PM

Its a custom switch panel for all the cold cathode lights hes running. The mach 1 logo is also illuminated blue from behind.

TWebb023 08-22-2006 07:47 AM

looks good, havent seen that before

jjtgiants 08-22-2006 09:08 AM

Very cool man. I've never seen anyone do that to a mach! Very cool....my 04 doesn't have the little sunglass net or whatever that thing is that came with the 03's....but I really like that what you did with the switch panel.

Another question....why did you have the hood stripe off? Just curious...I know others on the mach 1 registry have done the same, but I think they look hot with the hood stripes.

Any other mods? How much power is she putting down?

AREA 51 08-22-2006 09:23 AM

The hood stripe I didnt like at the very first start...so I took it off but now I want it back on so I gotta buy one. I guess I was in such a hurry to start changing it into my own thing that I didnt really think it through. I really like the hood stripes now. The side ones were really badly damaged so I am simply getting new ones

I have the typical bolt on stuff MGW Shifter, JLT RAI, O/R Prochamber, Magnapacks for performance.
H&R Springs with tokico shocks
Interior wise i put that t handle shifter in and also if you look close at the interior picture I bought the gauge cluster bezel off of mach1performance and put that in. I chose the brushed look in place of chrome and only to get thema and find out they are plastic they are listed as brushed aluminum "LOOK" so I thought they were aluminum....OOOPS.

For power I dont know. I have an appointment here in milwaukee on the 8th of september to have it tuned and dyno'd...I'll know more then

jjtgiants 08-22-2006 10:03 AM

Very cool man.....I would HIGHLY recommend getting your car dyno tuned ASAP because your A/F is probably not very safe....obviously every car is different, but as you know mach engines are very sensitive to mods...with a CAI and catback you'd be ok, but once you add that 3rd component that brings in more air you'll probably be running pretty lean.

I have pretty much the same mods, just a different CAI and my A/F was crazy high...it was like 14.1 or something like that at WOT....then when the tuner loaded the canned Predator tune it jumped to like 15.1.

As for the hood stripe....I know what you mean. I think we all want our cars to have something unique about it. I know there are people that have done this and I don't know how much it would cost, but look into having the hood stripe and side panels painted on rather than putting the stickers. Just an idea. Check out the mach 1 registry and I think you'll be able to find pictures of it painted on.

Very sweet ride man!
