IMPORTANT: Alarm transmitter
 

how much is it for an Alarm transmitter for a '98 V6 mustang? and what needs to be done to program it for my car, because the one i have is broken, and no longer works (and yes i checked the batteries). i need an answer ASAP because i can't get the stuff out of my car without the alarm going off!

idk about the alarm but to program my keyless entry i have to turn the key to on an off very quickly 8 times then u hear the locks engage push lock button on your keyless remote and its programed also idk if that will work with a 98 mine is a 04 u might have to do somthing differant

never mind....i got my transmitter working by pulling it apart and messing with the battery connection...i used a Coke can's tin metal to get it to work. yeah...i have Mcguyver skills. :)

For Future Reference (should you need to program new or additional transmitters).

The programming sequence of turning the ignition key from OFF to RUN eight times within 10 seconds to enter programming mode works for the 1999-up Mustang.

For 1994-1998, you have to short the programming connector. It is located in the trunk, on the driver's side, behind the upholstery. When you pull back the covering to reveal the relay box (theft module/RFK interface), you will find a gray connector with two wires that is not plugged into anything. This is the programming connector.

The vehicle will accept up to four transmitters.

To program:
(1) Have all remotes on hand that will be programmed to the car because once you enter programming mode, existing transmitters will be erased from memory.
(2) Turn the ignition key to the RUN position.
(3) Temporarily short the two pins of the programming connector while the key is on to enter programming mode. The door locks will cycle to confirm you have entered programming mode. (Remove the jumper or shorting device - do not keep the pins shorted together once the door locks have cycled.)
(4) Press any button on the first transmitter to be programmed. The door locks will cycle to confirm programming.
(5) Repeat step 4 with any additional transmitters - press any button and listen for the door locks to cycle to confirm.
(6) After all transmitters have been programmed, turn the ignition to OFF. The door locks will cycle to confirm that you have exited programming mode. Check the function of all transmitters.
