AODE crap

Hey Randy I need the part number and price for the separator plate in my automatic. 2001 Mustang GT. I'm going to attempt the J mod one more time and gonna re-drill the holes one more time. Thanks bud. Let me know as soon as possible.

Why do I have a feeling they dont sell just the separator plate?

I went to a dealer they said the same thing....but I know someone in florida that sells the J mod pre drilled in a kit(gaskets, upgraded springs, plate) real cheap so i'll be going with them. No worries

For our cars you dont upgrade the springs, you simply remove them.

My bad the kit comes with new accumulator pistons, a new spring that does not need to be installed but can be for a firmer 1-2 shift and gaskets, everything you need except a filter and fluid.

My tranny needs a overhaul so this should be good for it

What do you recommend for spring removal both the 1-2 and 2-3. What did you do?

Same thing in my directions. Removed the 1-2 and 2-3 springs. How much is this kit and what are you going to drill the holes to?

.106......its only $50

Sounds good. Make sure you get the filter too and dont remove the vb until the tranny is cold. If you remove it while its hot/ warm then the vb can warp.

Will do

One question, why do the J-Mod? My shifts got a hell of a lot firmer with just my X-Cal 2 and I can't imagine them hitting much harder than they do now (at least the 1-2 shift).

03gtmustang 08-21-2006 08:35 PM

Because when you make your shifts firmer via tune, you are increasing the line pressure which is bad for the tranny. With the JMod you are modifing the valve body. This makes the tranny shift a lot faster and will actually reduce, friction, wear, and heat. With my set up I will chirp the tires at half throttle on the 1-2 shift and I have room to grow! With the next step up, I could chrip the tires with DR's.

Oh, and not all shift kits are created equal. The J Mod is the ONLY one I would do.

How bad for the tranny are we talking? Should I try to get the tuner to leave the shift pressure alone? Why would SCT distribute a product that harms your car instead of helps it without any kind of warning or notice?

03gtmustang 08-21-2006 09:18 PM

A little increase wont kill it. Mine is increased a little. Shift pressure is only one paramater out of how many? SCT is still a great product. What about all those other companies that make ****ty products but are still in business.

Well does J-Modding affect driveability? Is it a neck-snapping shift all of the time or only under heavier throttle? What should I expect to pay to have it done, because from the sound of it I'll probably mess it up.

03gtmustang 08-21-2006 09:31 PM

Well theres def a big difference between a stock and j moded vb. I havent adjusted the way I drive my car because of it. The more throttle you give it the harder it shifts. As far as labor rates, I have no idea. The only parts you would need are two separator plate gaskets and a tranny filter. Where in NOVA are you? I could do it when Im home from school.

I'm in Leesburg, which is off Rt. 7 between Rt. 28 and 15.
