Ok, so...i guess that box is bad

Well, as our discussion on how my car keeps throwing those damn codes....well, I ran the car on the dyno today, and the dyno operator cut the run short (like didnt even go WOT) beacuse my a/f was sitting around 16. The dyno graph is not pretty. My a/f consistantly went up and up and up. He didnt want to blow my engine, so he just stopped.

So, in judging from what codes keep getting thrown, im thinking that I need to go ahead and replace that relay box, as i checked my CEL's and that code is consistantly coming up, and I might need another 02 sensor. im not too sure on that one. All I know is that he JUST dipped into open loop and the a/f ratio just didnt agree at all.

What was that price you told me for that box? Im first going to attempt to get my tuner to enrichen me a bit more, as he did lean me out, and there is a chance that the leaning that he did might have hurt me more than helped me.

In case you got that info from your drivability tech on what might be going on, I wouldnt mind hearing it. I might need another O2 sensor too, because, as an idiot, I replaced bank 2 and not bank 1 (i forgot bank 1 is on cylinder one :bash: :bash:) and I threw out my bank two sensor, which is probably still good.

In case your tech is wondering, the codes I have been throwing are:

P0131 / P1131
And P1232 - Low speed fuel pump circuit relay malfunction

I checked for vac leaks and got nothing, but i might have to get one of the smoke tests done to see if I missed anything that I couldnt see (the carb cleaner didnt make my idle do anything at all, and the leaks that I did have I fixed).

To make a long story short (too late I know), I need the price for that relay box (in case I have to replace it) and possibly one more front O2 sensor (not sure on this one yet though). Let me know what your drivability tech was thinking as far as possible problems. I am going to have Nick undo the changes he made on my tune, so hopefully that will give me some starting point there.

Thanks Randy!

gah Chris, shut up about your slow car already...

lol j/p, but seriously I'll be glad when you get that thing fixed :)

Shambles 02-25-2006 10:56 PM

I'll shut up about it once I get the damn thing running properly...this thing is driving me NUTS!!

Randy Stinchcomb 02-27-2006 07:09 AM

Chris, $105.00 on that CCM and as soon as I get caught-up, I'll get wth Dennis and see what he has to say and the O2 was what, @$65.00?

Shambles 02-27-2006 07:38 AM

I might not need that O2, im going to have my tune tweaked and see what that does first, who knows, maybe that will eliminate the need for that CCM...

BTW ever seen a turboed 04 cobra? I have. It put down 712/718 on 100 Octane at 20.7# of boost!

Randy, one other thing..

Think you can fax me over a diagram of what pins are used on the ECU for a 96 Cobra, I had one bent and im wondering if that might have caused this issue as well.

Randy Stinchcomb 02-27-2006 10:39 AM

I'll check & I got your v/m, will call as soon as I get caught-up:D
