Post count to sell?

I do not understand how having a ton of posts automatically designates a member as a "qualified seller" on this forum?

Look... I understand there must be rules, and these are the rules here. And I should have read them more carefully instead of scrolling through them.
But I've been here for some time now too. Does that count for nothing???

I have a busy work schedule, family, etc. I more enjoy reading the posts when time permits. I'm quiet by nature. I post when I feel my opinion or comment makes a difference. That shouldn't make me any less part of this community. I've read every line of Red's 5.4 build and countless other threads. I've been a member since 2006 and I wouldn't maintain a membership for that long to scam someone out of a $250 x-pipe.

All I'm saying is time on should count for something. The member’s who choose to be silent, for whatever reasons, shouldn't be marginalized because we aren't post whores.

Go ahead and move this. It wasn't intended for this section. As you can tell... I dont post often.

It's understood as a way to reduce problems. You're the exception rather than the rule. Sorry... we have to try to be consistent. Most people with low post counts and long member times abandoned the board after starting and then come back to sell, so we still do not know them.

You can try sell to anyone who's posted a WTB ad looking for your part.

BTW, if you're doing a 5.4 swap then post a hello and still alive bit in the 5.4 thread. Enough recognition in there and I can wield the hammer of okie-dokie for you. The 5.4 thread ends up with a lot of guys that only post here for that 1 thing so I can give a little credit for time served. Hopefully that's helpful for you.

I'll go over your prior posts and see if there's enough for a waiver.

r3dn3ck 08-21-2009 10:18 AM

thread moved.

r3dn3ck 08-21-2009 10:28 AM

I looked into your old posts and you've given good advice and asked good questions and put enough personal info out so I've un-deleted your post and posted an ok notice in your FS thread. I'll let it go 1 time because of your time in the 5.4 thread. We seem to have a LOT of lurkers. You are strongly encouraged to ping up a hello periodically, it helps with the post count.

Thanks Red. I'm not one to ask to have rules bent for me. I understand they are here for a specific purpose and I do think people should be qualified to sell by some sort of standard. (I'm always nervous of the corral for this very reason)
To have some sort "sliding scale of privileges" to earn isn't a bad idea. I just didn't agree that post count alone should be the determining factor. Thanks again for the reconsideration.

r3dn3ck 09-01-2009 11:22 AM

We are absolutely horrible people destined to rot in hell.

SALEEN1179 09-01-2009 12:59 PM

Yeah, as redneck said, we like to be fair here. If you seem like you're trying to be a contributing member but you haven't quite posted 200 posts yet, you'll probably get a pass. It's just good to pm us before you make the thread and let us know, that way the thread isn't deleted prematurely.

Posts whining about the Post Count rule for classifieds dont count for the post count requirement, meaning you have 11 posts, not 14.

lol

this post count rule is WAY lax friom what i have seen on some sites.

lol... over on the nikon forumboard i frequent the requirement is having been signed up at least 6 months, and 300 posts, but short posts dont count, i had to hit like 311 before i could even see they had a classifieds section.

i made a smartass comment in one of the threads asking about the post count rule and the moderator damn near reset my post count.

that place is strict. lol

UGH... you're telling me. I'm contemplating just spamming the hell out of that place for about a week. I'm almost at the 6 month mark and I have nowhere near 300 posts there.

i'm on a local mustang forum in long island, and their is no post count rule at all. it bothers me because ppl with less then ten posts join up and advertise their for salve items. whats worse is that they don't know how to properly set up their account, so they don't ever know that someone responded to their thread, or PM'd them. plus, they never leave the right information, or post pics of the item.

That's one of the biggest reasons why there is a post count rule. It stops people from only coming on here to sell their goods and disappear, but also ensures that people at least know how to use the basic features on the site. Someone who's been here long enough to post 200 times probably will be more comfortable with the site than someone who's just signed up.
