Is Something Fishey Here?

My Wife Just Bought A 66 Mustang Convertable . We Paid The Car But Have Not Transfered Title Yet. The Vehicle Number On The Title Does Not Match Ant Number On The Door Or Left Front Fender. In Fact Both Of Those Have Different Id Numbers From The One On The Title. He Says The Car Came To Va. From New York . He Has Had It 11 Years And Didn't Notice Until Now This Problem He Has He Is Getting The History With The Correct I.d. Number From N.y. And Will Get The Va Title Corrected. The Problem Is He Replaced The Door And Left Front Fender There By Removeing Anything To Tie The Title Even If The Number Is Right To This Car.he Has My Cash. I Have His Receipt. But Now What Would You Do?

sounds sketchy to me. It all depends on what you need.

66? it probably got hit, and had salvage parts put on. As far as him not knowing, very possible, i have never matched numbers on any of my cars.

If it is a big deal for it to be all origional and yer not comfortable with it, back out of the deal.
if it is just a nice car to drive, i dont see any big problem personally.

I have a pure bred siberian husky, beautiful dog, but i dont have her papers, nor will i ever get them, doesent make her less of a dog in my mind.

I say, as long as it doesnt create any legal problems, be happy with the car, and dont worry about it

If it were presented to you as "all being original" and you paid top-dollar, then I would have him arrested. Otherwise, you simply get what you pay for. A car that old is bound to have had parts replaced and I would be willing to bet the price reflects that fact. This si why cars of this age are so valuable potentially if all the parts match and have original paint etc...

Something Fishey Here

Well here in VA. the vehicle ID number is on the title number along with the title number. If there are no I.D. numbers on the car to prove that car goes to that title how do you know it isn't stolen or salvage. We paid $13,000.00 for the car but have not transfered the title in case we need to go to court. I know you can buy repo id plates and re-stamp the info. but that may put me at risk by doing something illegal.
