How legal is it though? I was gonna get it for the bird and my girlfriends gt mustang. But wasnt sure about legalness.

As far as I know there is nothing illegal about them. They came stock on some cars, like the old Cougars. BUT when in doubt, always check with your local law enforcement agencies.
