BBK header install

Alright my brother asked me to post this for him cuz hes not to good with computer, cars, and many other things ::p . He baught a set of bbk shorty headers for his 99' 35th anniversary (tried to talk him into longtubes, but no go). Any one have any suggestions or experiance with this job? Best way to go about doing it? Any help is appretiated. thanks!

Yes, i would return those shorties and exchange them for longtubes. The install is a PITA on both shorties and longtubes, so if you're gonna spend the time and money, you should do it right the first time. BTW if this is his first time trying to work on his car, tell him to forget it and and pay someone to do it...

do a search for my post regarding BBK shortie install. It tells you how much a pain in the ass headers are to do.

I made it about 4 months ago.

no argument here on the exchange idea. In his defense he got them for like 150$ brand new, thanks to ebay.

Told him to pay someone to do it. But he thinks hes super mechanic, even tho he couldnt master the art of jacking up his car when we put his exhaust on for him.

Thanks mattj :beerchug: for that post. Very helpful. I think thats gunna scare the crap out of him and he'll pay someone to do it.

Thank God cuz i was afraid he was really gunna mess up his car.

He will. you need to know what you are doing to tackle a header job and a lot of available tools as well.

Exactly... If you planning on doing a FULL exhaust, don't waste your money or time with shorty headers. Get the long tubes.

And PAY someone to do the install. Its going to be expensive, but if your like myself and haven't really gotten into the whole install thing yet, it will take a first timer a GOOD FULL day to install the headers. Im talking 20 hours.

And thats if you don't get frustrated and completely give up =)

$hit... it took one of my installers two nights to do! Granted, it was his first time with a modular motor, he's used to LS1 engines.

^^ LOL, yea not good.

He didnt realize how cramped out engines are. After messing with it, he didnt wanna drop the Kmember and have to have me get it RE-aligned, so he actually lifted the enigine out about 6 inches. Eh, w/e, got em, done right, no leaks, and i love em

No argument here... i tried to talk him into longtubes but he didnt listen. Im just trying to get him some info so maybe he'll sell them and buy longtubes or get scared out of installing them himself.
