At the same time Al made his first 5.4 there was a guy that did it with a B's. Made 380/356 without a shortrunner intake and stock compression. With a shortrunner I'm sure it would have made close to 400. Then once the supercharger goes on my peak power should continue to rise all the way to 7k. I see it as a win win.

I think I can get the motor built for under 3k.
if you hold out and spend a bit more time you can find a set of 99/01 or 03/04 cobra heads for cheap just keep looking. heck even a set of navi heads would be better!

also for under 3k try again! unless you find some people getting rid of used parts not goin to happen.

IMO just hold out. if your going to spend the time and money just do it right, look around and talk to people! get all the info you can.

Yes the 99+ heads are better. But then I'd have to spend a ton of money on an intake. Remember a blower will eventually be going on so boost could care less what 4v head its pushing air through.

I will be looking for used parts so I think 3k is attainable. I was searching for parts in various classified sections on many mustang sites and found the average price for the following...

Timing cover ~125
Timing chains ~100
FMS shorties ~225
Crank ~ 275
Cams ~750

Then new stuff I have to buy:
Gasket set ~250
Rods/Pistons/Rings- 1000...MMR has a special right now
arp mains studs- ~120
Machine work for block ~500

So thats a total of 3345. If I sell my teksid block and crank I'd say I can get 450ish for it, I'd be around 2895. Then I can sell my current LT/s and or H I'd probably close to 2700. Am I missing anything?

machineing for crank, gaskets, flywheel, clutch, when you machine the crank youll want to get the rods and pistons balanced. getting the pistons pressed onto the rods. theres more!

i dont see it happening but proving me wrong will be AWESOME! Good luck with the build!

I'd reuse my current clutch/FW. MMR says 175$ for balancing. Ohhh that reminds me I can sell my intake cams for $100 or so. Totally forgot about that.

So if it doesn't stay under 3g's I'm not gonna stress over it. But I think it will be around there give or take a couple bills.

Now my next obsticle is to try and find where I'm gonna remove 100lbs off the nose to make up for the added weight of the block. lol.

It is not going to happen.
First, what are you doing for an intake?
B heads are almost as old as pushrod technology,
and no intake is going to make any power on a B headed 5.4.
Ever priced a custom intake?
Why would anyone want swirl port heads?
And using MMR for anything is never a good idea.
If you cannot afford to do it correctly, you cannot afford to do it at all.
Every time you think you are smart and saving a nickle,
it will in reality cost you 10 bucks MORE.

Default Navi Heads vs Cobra R Intake

Thought I would share some pics of a Navigator Gasket on a 00 Cobra R intake manifold. Since the bolt holes line up close enough, i'd have bolted it up to try out if i had an upper!

Yeah, the gasket cuts into the Cobra R intake port just a little on the corners... Not that i intend to do it, but how much do you think that would hinder performance? I mean, wouldnt you like to know what it would do if you just put it on as is? For sure everyone else is curious too?

Anyone know anything about the frpp hi volume oil pump? I'm finally getting around to collecting the parts to assemble my block and wondering about these things. They're pretty inexpensive but if it's a good pump I wouldn't mind using it.

Hey all. Its been awhile since I've been on. Looks like everyones doin great. Mines doin good still. Gettin ready to swap to auto with 4.10's and a 150 shot for this upcoming season.

Cobra54-I did the exact thing your gonna do and am happy with it. N/a the c heads win but the b heads love boost. What blower are you wantin to go with? I've always wondered if it was possible to put a kenne bell for our cobras on bc they bolt the the stock lower I imagine an adapter could be made for the blower to sit on the widened intake.

Johnny- did you happen to dyno it? What did you do to the motor? I dont' know what blower to go with. BUt I think it will be a centrifical one. I'd have to get another hood if I went with a pd blower. 4.30's/28's/centri....should be a fun ride. Hope for some low 10's with minimal boost.

Another 5.4 32V up and running in Minnesota.
It took him a while due to work, school, and a pizz poor engine builder up there.
He made the right choice after getting screwed by the first guy,
and had Al Papitto of Boss 330 racing set him up.
