A little more cleaning while I'm waiting on funds and more parts.

I got the car running but i think i have a intake manifold gasket leak. There is little bit of coolant on the engine valley and its also blowing white smoke. There is no coolant in the oil so i guess i have to take everything off and align it again. Also, this blower is noisy as hell. I had the silencer ports shut, have a home port done to it and a 2.8 pulley. Here is a vid

Thanks for sharing the youtube link. You're right that is kind of loud (the "moonshiners whistle") compared to some of the others but most definitely tolerable for the power produced. Congratulations on getting it going !!!

Thanks man, i have to take it off tomorrow and set it just right again so i wont have anymore coolant leaks. After that i have to wait for my throttle cable and then i will be able to drive the car around.

Ok i took everything apart today and found out that my driver side gasket was fucked. I replaced them and i also put some RTV underneath the gasket and let the manifold (without the blower) lay on top of it for a good 20 minutes. After that i bolted them down and torqued them down to 40ftlbs. Fired up but then after it wouldnt start again. I dont have a throttle cable (waiting on it from ford) so i decided to put a piece of cardboard between the throttle stop bolt and the throttle linkage. Bam!! She fired up. Here is the video:

COOL ... Not as much whistle. Sounds GREAT ... Please post a burnout video when you can.

What cable did you have to order to get things to work?

I had to order one from a Terminator. The stock Gt one would work on a 4.6 but the 5.4 is just too wide.

Is that a GT500 blower on a dual injected 2v?

No it's a lightning motor with a whipple 3.4, I think those are just a u fitting to take the fuel line back behind the blower instead of under it. He is using the fore precision triple pump setup.
I like where he put his water temp sensor. In the radiator tube he made that goes from intake to radiator. That's a good idea.

I got my fuel rails in, I'm working on mocking up some custom brackets out of cardboard before I move on to making a permanent set. I should have something fabbed up in the next few days and then I'll get them painted and ready to mount.

Making these brackets is a pain in the ***. Lots of trial and error, I'm just having trouble making sure they line up perfectly with the weird offset I have to deal with.

Doing work on the brackets.

Here's one after the cuts and bends, just had to be drilled after this.

Here's the other side tightened down.
bb8cf1fe.jpg?t=1290482298

Here's it is mounted up, sturdy as can be. I ended up doing some more trimming on the left one so it looked more uniform with the right one.

And a couple teasers of how it will look after I finish my homework.

Look what I got Gotta thank Bivens Race Cars for that one. I still gotta grind down the old MAP sensor block just to make it pretty, but other than that this thing looks awesome.

I was gonna use the MAP sensor hole for the IAC but it interfered with the throttle body so we moved it over. Now I just have to smooth that down as much as possible so it will look pretty when I get it powder coated.

I'm lookin at doing it, just bought my 2000 gt needs some work done and this was one of the first things brought to my attention when i started talking power increse at the ford shop i work in. Most of the techs are telling my that i need to replace other things and they conflict with what others are saying. Now, what i need to know is what else needs to be changed, other than the intake manifold, to do the convert from a 4.6 2v to a 5..4 2v/4v whichever engine i find first for a decent price. I will be able to get a complete assembly, if that shortens your list. I would look through the thread but there is 335 damn pages and i don t have a lifetime. Any and all knowledge that you are 100% sure about is appreciated. Thanks!

Swapping in a 2v is almost identical to swapping in another 4.6. You need a new intake, a longblock, and you have to hammer down the little tabs on the inside of the oil pan. LTs would have to be custom or FTP but you can use factory shorties and a modded midpipe. The 5.4 swap it a pretty cost effective swap if that's the rout you want to go.

The only things you need to buy are the engine, intake and flywheel.

I have an intake for sale. If you're thinking of getting one from HPS, good luck. they're usually out.

EDIT: when you get serious about it, PM me like everyone else does.

I assumed looking at his name that he had a 2000, which is a windsor motor, which doesn't need a new flywheel... I feel like I'm starting to get pretty knowledgeable about these things by this point. I've only been working on mine for 6 months.

I thought all the 2000s did. Mine had a march 2000 build date and it still had an 8 bolt flywheel.

Sorry i havent been posting any updates lately. I have been running into soo many problems. First it was a huge leak inside the manifold. My intercooler lines werent long enough and started leaking inside the manifold and outside. I called Charles from TT and he shipped me 3/8 longer lines and it worked.

Then i started tracing a vacuum leak. I had installed a new supercharger gasket and it fixed the loud one but a smaller one popped up. I then changed it out to a gasket i made with gasket material you cut out. The little whistle noise was still there so i sprayed carb cleaner all around the adaptor plate trying to look for it but nothing. Then this morning i went out and checked all my vacuum hoses and noticed a very very small crack on my PCV hose. I put some RTV in there just to see if that was it and sure enough it was.

While i had the vacuum leak, i also had my intercooler pump not circulate the coolant. I looked all over for some kinks and found nothing. I heard that the i/c pump could get air locked if it was running with no coolant (which it was when i had the leak). I took off the bottom portion of the hose, opened up the i/c reservoir, blew on it to put pressure while i had the pump on. It took a while but i finally got all the air out and started priming like a champ . Now to top off with coolant, change the oil again, datalog the car, and get her on the road again.

The finished product as it stands now:

I have to wait till tomorrow because while i was getting the air out of the i/c pump, some of it sprayed into the alternator. Dont want to risk it so i'll wait till tomorrow to start datalogging. Everything is looking up now. Oh yeah, i had to cut a small hole on the hood because if i did anymore grinding to the plenum, it was going to reach the crush side of the gasket.

Anybody know where I can get some new navi timing cover bolts? And some valve cover bolts.

I got it mocked up but don't have all the right bolts.

Well, my intake sold on ebay to one of the chaps that's still reading through the thread.

I have CPR fuel rails, 30lbs injectors and a slew of autometer gauges on special this week. Someone want those parts for a song?

I have front A-Arms and rear lower control arms on special as well. They're Maximum severe duty spherical and delrin bushings, requires a coil over conversion if you don't have one. Will work with the stock k-member though.
