xpipe or h pipe

what are the pros and cons of each and what kind of sound do they make?
AND
i saw an off road, no cat ,xpipe thats said it was 50 state legal.

how can this be?

Mossberg 12-21-2005 03:07 PM

X pipe = more high end hp, higher pitch exotic sound and possible rasp with chambered mufflers depending on the brand you select.

H pipe = more tq down lown, deeper rumbly exhaust note that reminds you of 60s muscle cars.

No offroad pipe is 50 state legal for street use.

Very well said man. and yes off-road mid pipes are not legal anywhere.

jjtgiants 12-21-2005 03:20 PM

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but an X pipe will give you more of a raspy sound and more top end power. The H pipe will give you more low end power and give you more of a muscle car sound.

o/r x or h pipe that is 50 state legal?? I wouldn't believe that one.....I'm running a Mac Prochamber with cats and I'm not legal by CA standards, but it just depends where you live cause some states have tougher laws than others.

You are correct. X will give more Hp which is good for top end....but H will give you more torque which is good for getting out of the hole. To be honest an H on the 4.6L is the way to Mustangs are known for getting out of the hole might as well add on to that. The differences are basically in the sound and what you prefer. NO OFFROAD PIPE IS LEGAL. Just dont get caught :D ..I rather be safe than sorry

TEXASPAUL 12-21-2005 06:06 PM

does off road just mean no cat?

i think i saw an off road catted once

Offroad means no cats totally straight through...theres no such thing as an catted offroad pipe. But there are some cats that are hi flow and sometimes dont pass emissions...

TEXASPAUL 12-21-2005 06:49 PM

are the cats in the mid pipe or with the muffler and rest of the stuff?

Nice choice, what one did you get? Your going to love the sound. I went with the Mac Prochamber w/cats and I kinda wish I would have gotten it without cats cause my exhaust is really quiet.....It's a sleeper ;)

Which one was yours, the Red one or the mineral gray? I liked the way the red one sounded better.

pimpmustangGT 12-25-2005 08:07 PM

Yes.. mgnflow sucks - dynomax sucks .. borla - is good but not loud just smooth... slp... kinda sorta sucks.. they are just ok...flowmaster 40's - loud as hell & deep as hell.. the best sounding muffler by far!

csledd 12-25-2005 08:19 PM

Mine was the mineral grey GT. My mach sounds more like the red vert now.

TEXASPAUL 01-06-2006 08:09 PM
