Power Problems....HELP!
 

Guys,

My Pony is sick. I cannot drive in 4th or 5th gear around 65-70mph without the car seeming like it's not getting enough gas, or like the gas pedal is not working properly with the throttle. If I am going up a slight hill at 70mph in 5th, my car will slow down. Even when I try and give it more gas, my car is not responding. History? I had a new clutch installed maybe 2 months ago. Check engine light on ever since. I've had 1 of the O2 sensors replaced. I have been getting trouble codes of 1150, 1151, and 1152. Today I got a tune up: New plugs, new fuel and air filter, cleaned out throttle body, "Run Rite" treatment ran through the engine to clean out all deposits etc. I passed on getting new spark plug wires. My car has 105,000 miles on it. I need to do the rear end service, is this a possible cause? I do hear a harmonic type of squeal in the morning when I pull off coming from the passenger side rear wheel. It sounds like somethings needs lube. My only logic is that if my rear end is "dry" it could be having a hard time accelerating, but I am only guessing.

Dont know if it would help, but what about fuel injector cleaner? Just a thought, dont think its in the rear end though...

Sounds like you might have a failing fuel pump. Have you had the pressure checked? That is what I would look at next.

...or maybe your rear end is dying out. My friends rear end ceased not too long ago and his car would barely move. what sucks is he just pumped a full tank of gas in too! haha it costed him about 1500 for a new rear end with 4.10 gears.

Thanks guys. I have tried 2 bottles of fuel injector cleaner a couple of weeks ago, and there was no change. Yesterdays repair (tune up) included a "run rite" treatment that was to clean the fuel injectors, combustion chamber, pistons, and throttle plate. Still no change. After searching the internet last night, I am leaning towards the fuel pump also. I will post my results once I get the work done.

i would say fuel pump also but did you change the fuel filter with the tune up. also i had the same problem in another car, you might need new coil packs or one might be bad. come to think about it i would check those first.

With this many miles with original plug wires,I'll bet that's what it is.Bad plug wires usually feel more like a steady miss under load though.How about the exhaust system?Are the cats clogged???

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, but it turned out to be the O2 sensors (the other 3). After my new clutch was installed, the mechanics replaced the one they tampered with during the removal and re-install of my clutch. It happened to be the drivers side one BEFORE the cats. Saturday they replaced the remaining 3 02 sensors (which were the original ones), and my problems are gone. I have all of my power back, no acceleration hiccups, and no issues on hills etc.

I am now riding with a smile again.....I :0)
