chip/tune
hey guys...another quick question....i have a 97 gt, automatic. I currently have,
- bbk cai - steeda udp - accufab 70mm t/b and plenum - frpp 4.10 gears - slp longtubes, slp o/r x pipe, slp catback the next step i want to take is to get a chip/dyno tune. I was just wondering how much hp you think i will gain from this, and also what numbers you think i will push out with my current mods??? thanks |
For your year car, you should swap the heads before getting a chip. Chips is good for about 10 rwhp, while you would get 40 - 50 with PI heads which are cheap.

I am sure someone else will chime in, but finding PI heads is easy and I think they run about $600 - $700. Now, you could spend more...a lot more and get after-market ones with custom cams and pay about $2500 and get about a 100 hp improvement.

Also, I'm lookin at the comp cams. They have cams for PI and Non-PI. The Non-PI are .500lift and the PI are .550lift. SOOOO are they sayin the valve springs on the PI heads are good for cams out to .550 lift, or do I have to get the new springs for them. |
I think the trick is to find someone with a 99-04 Mustang who is getting after-market heads and you can buy his used ones. I believe I have seen those go for about $600.

you can buy the whole kit with i think all you need for the swap on Parkwayperformance.com and go under head swap and if thats the case i would get them ported and polished while they are off and boost u up a little on the power
