Tri Ax installed...
 

:D This thing rocks. I cant imagine what the low setting is like. This thing is NOTCHY! It will get better though or so I hear. Its not bad though, just took a little getting used to it. The install wasnt bad, me and dad had it in in about an hour and 15 mins. Im pretty sure I could do it again in less. Hardest part was setting the stop bolts cause its hard to see if there is a gap. Thanks for yalls recommendations and advice on the shifter, I love it. Oh and how are yall's handles put on, mines on the right side, didnt know if the left was better or what.

I just finished installing a new Tri-ax in my GT convert. Went very well about the same as you. My handle is on the left. I just did that because the stock handle was on the left. Seems to be OK, probably doesn't really matter unless someone knows something that we don't.

Yea and it does feel a little weird being on the right, but its not bad. Ill move it at somepoint to see how it feels that way.

The notchy-ness will calm down as you drive it and will be come smooth as silk. But the shifts will always be crisp and sure.

A trick to getting the stop bolts right is to slide a piece of paper down there and then move the shifter. With the trany in gear, you should be able to pull the paper out, BUT if you force the handle forward or backward (depending on the gear) it will grip the paper. This is a really good way to make sure you don't have the stops bolts too tight.

Oh I know for a fact they arent too tight, just wanted to make sure its ok if they arent exactly right. The directions said better too loose than too tight.

Congrats on the new mod! How long did it take you to get the old one off?

The tri-ax is so much better than stock.

I bought my tri-ax from here and installed mine in about an hour too, it is awesome! :D

The funny thing is, it seems like the car had tranny work in the past because there was hardly a drop of sealant on the old shifter :confused: . I dont know what to think about that but whatever.

I have a pro 5.0 on mines....works like a charm! :) .....you will have to get use to the handle getting hot when you race alot though..you will also hear a bit of whining coming from the tranny as the steeda/pro5.0 do not insulate the sound as good as stock shifters! :D ...you might also hear a ball and bearing sound! So if you are experiencing this..don't worry its all normal! If you have a bullit shift knob and your race alot you'll know what i'm talking about! The shifter get a bit hot after a few passes powershifting like a mofo!

Yea my anniversary knob certainly does get hotter than it used too. I really dont notice that much of the gear whine, although sometimes I do hear it. We put the stock rubber boot back on so that quiets it down a lot. The only thing I dont like is how it is kinda hard to put it into fifth gear.

I installed my tri-axe yesterday, AND LOVE IT!!! I have it at the lowest setting, and it rocks. The install was really easy(except for the part where I had to get under the car and wack the the old one off.
