What next?...
What should I go for next?
VT Stage 2 Cams w/ Comp Cam Springs or Accufab Throttlebody and Plenum Combo WHAT TO DO!?!? Also, if I did go with the cams, what I need to buy anything else and would I need to adjust anything on my car to get it to run good? |

Nice gestimate, I'm not even sure we have any places in VA that are any good. I'll probably end up taking it down to True Blue Performance in NC. That will probably cost me an arm and leg. Will I need the tune like as soon as the cams go in or can I still drive it a little but not aggressive? |
yeah it obviously depends on who you take it to. Each shop is going to have different rates. I would say that the average to base any figuring off of would be 500-600, depending on whether or not you already a tuner/chip that they can use. If not, then you obviously have to purchase that, along with their service of actually tuning it. Here in NC at the shops I have looked into, it seems to be around 200 for dyno tuning time if you already have a tuner/chip that they can use. If you have to purchase the tuner/chip, it seems to run from like 500-700, based upon application. It would all just depend.

I have the old ass Ford Superchips Handheld Device. I'll probably end up going for the SCT Xcal2 and then take it down to True Blue Performance I guess.
|
I was looking to take my car to True Blue as well at some point. I am reaching the point to where the mods are going to go beyond my means of doing myself, and they are close by and a SCT dealer, which I have the Xcal2. Just convenient to let them do work and be able to go ahead and tune it too. I haven't heard any negatives about them.

with stage 2s it is NOT reccomended that you drive with out a tune, id drive it down there, install it and tune it right there
may be alot fo work, but jeesus you will have a mean sounding, and powerful n/a stang |
Ive seen a lot of places have dyno renting from 75-100 an hour. I doubt that includes tuning though.
|
Oh, well let's see how well I can save money for a couple weeks. And if I can't actually save up then I'll wait until X-mas and use my bonus from work.

i wouldn't run VT II's on a stock short block
50/50 chance they'll hit(some do, some don't, kinda weird) my comp 270's modified my pistons for me, lol OUCH!!! |

I was debating on camming my car over the winter? just wasnt sure on which cams to use with nitrous set up  especially if I get the two different tunes "N/A and nitrous" Ive herd great things about the VT cams and Comp? on Modulardepot, just not sure? Stage I or IIs ???
What do you all think? |
any cam that has more intake and exhaust duration will add power with nitrous. basicly a nitrous cam is one that makes the car run good N/a also, although a true nitrous cam to me would be one that favors intake rather then exhaust.

stage 2's for most power.
stage ones if your worried about going over 450rwhp. |

plus figure in the labor...unless you plan on a major untertaking and having your car out of service for a few days, i wouldn't do it myself....not to mention if you dont have the experience, tools, and know-how on how to properly dial in and install cams
|
it doesnt take a few days to do a cam install more like a few hours. unless i guess you really really go slow. Most get it done in a day. something like 6-8 hours is what i have been seeing. I cant wait ot add a set to mine.

About the PTV, Ive never actually read that a VT cam has EVER caused a PTV contact problem, even if you dont degree them, but if you show me Id love to see it. (No im not trying to be an ass either, Im just curious) Also, maybe look into their stage 1 cams, they still give amazing gains, and are a little more streetable. They are plenty choppy and youll still see about 20-25 rwhp. Just a thought. Oh, and cams and tb/plenum are not even comparable, they are kinda like mods that work well together, but get the cams first, THEN do the tb/plenum.
