Aftermarket Clutch Quadrants/Kits
 

I was planning to order the steeda clutch kit with the quadrant and firewall adjuster. Just wanted to check with you guys to see I needed to look into another brand someone may be using or go ahead and order the steeda.

steeda the BEST. I have the quadrant and firewall adjuster...get it

Also look into the Fiore clutch adjuster kit. It had a bearing in it instead of a lock nut.

what does the the clutch adjuster and w/e do?

I think its only meant for aftermarket clutches as the stock ones are hydraulic.

Maximum Motorsports makes a damn good Quadrant and Cable. Comparable to factory. Just a thought..

we all have cable driven clutch cables not hydralic.

I went ahead and ordered the steeda kit. should be here tuesday. probably slap it on there thursday afternoon. thanks for the input guys.

Well, i guess i wan wrong... :( ....sorry if i gave anyone a bad info..

well i got my steeda adjuster and quadrant today and got it put on after class this afternoon. just a couple of quick questions about it...

1. what is the benefit of getting the clutch cable with the kit? I could not figure out how to have the firewall adjuster and the adjustable clutch on at the same time. the directions left much to be desired. I was surprised at how unclear they were. I just left the stock cable on for now, just so I could still drive it

2.regarding the quadrant..it comes with the spacer in the front (closest to driver) but what about the back? it just seems that there should be something there. it seems that the gap between the quadrant and the inside end of the shaft would create a weak point and allow it to bind. also, anyone have the metallic noise if you hit the pedal? the quadrant hitting on the pedal stop piece.

if anyone has any experience with installing these, did I do something wrongor is that just the way things are. I have no problems as of now after having driven around tonight, so I assume everything is good...just expressing some concerns and looking for a little insight. Thanks.

Well, I cant help with the other problems, but dont use the steeda cable. Aftermarket cables are known to be weaker than the stock one, and they break a lot.

alright. yeah I just used the stock cable anyway. i dont think that you can use an adjustable cable with the firewall adjuster anyway. there is an eyelet on the adjustable cable to connect to the firewall. the adjuster also has to connect onto the firewall and clearly the screws supplied would not be long enough to fit through both and hold, so apparently, you either use the stock cable and firewall adjuster or just put on the adjustable cable. it's a no brainer as to which setup to use, at least for me. why crawl on the ground and have to adjust the clutch down at the clutch fork when you can just adjust it right there under the hood. I have no problems with the setup at all. Conditions have greatly improved. It definately makes things feel better.

It even helped with my shifting problems. Before, I would have a hard time going into reverse. It would usually kick it out of reverse if I did not jam it in 2-3 times (like going straight into reverse from 1st would kick out). Now it goes in and I can go on the first try. thought I might have problem down there (may still have something wearing out, but the problem is better for sure anyway with the steeda stuff).

I was just curious about the things I mentioned in my last post. I know the pedals would make a noise if you hit/kicked it with the stock adjuster as well and now that there is a metal quadrant, it should be obvious that it would make some kind of noise.

anyway definately satisfied with this purchase...can't believe I didn't but it before now.

I have a similar thread in another section. Decided to post here in general tech to possibly get more looks.

Anyone using the steeda clutch adjuster kit with both the firewall adjuster and the adjustable clutch cable? I can't figure out how both could be used at the same time. The cable that came with my kit has an eyelet that would be used to screw it to the firewall in place of the stock hardware, but the supplied screws are not long enough to accomodate the cable and the firewall adjuster. I would assume that they would supply screws that are long enough for both if it were intended to use both.

ya i have it. so far i absolutely hate the aftermarket cable, i have the adjuster at the top all the way at the firewall and it was close to the bottom and gradually worked its way out to the top and i know for a fact that my adjusters up top and bottom havent moved so im almost positive that the piece of shit is stretching. i have the oem cable. problem is the plastic firewall piece, can that come off? or does it stay on? any tips so i can put my trusty ford cable back in there? also i have the same issue with clutch noise. its like a rattle cuz its not a perfect fit. i was gonna put some real thick grease in there to help cusion it so i dont have to hear the damn rattle but i havent gotten to it yet.
