dyno tune question?
okay guys...heres the scenario. These are the current mods done to my 97 gt: cold air intake, 70mm t/b and plenum, underdrive pulleys, o/r xpipe, 40 series mufflers, and 4.10 gears. Because of these mods i seriously need a dyno tune to correct and improve my car. The only other performance mod i wanted to do that i didnt get around to doing was longtube headers. Do you think that the car would be okay if i got a chip and dyno tune, then once i got the headers just put them on? Do you think i will need another whole dyno tune just from putting on the headers? I was told that the headers won't make a difference in the tune, and that just installing the headers after the tune will be just fine...any input is well appreciated...thanks

Id wait personally, because thats just one more thing they can tweak with to get your car running that much better.

I agree, you don't have enough mods for a tune, i have newer cams and intake without a tune, the CPU is very good at adapting on it's own, I have a C&L plenum and 75mm TB on the way on top of the rest of the stuff and a tune is still not needed.
all my current mods are in the link in the sig. |
WHEN do you actually plan on getting the headers?
I just had my car DYNO TUNED with a SCT 4 position switch chip. My only mods are Ram air intake, Accufab 70mm T/B, Accufab Plenum, MAC catted H-pipe, Flowmater cat back. when we dynoed the car for the Stock base run. I was running about 20% leaner. (not good) I am glad I got the tune sooner than later, cause of me running sooooo lean... I do plan on adding more mods to the car but not in the near future at all (im broke..lol) So if u ask me...yea get the tune NOW..unless u plan on getting those longtubes SOON then do it after. I still wonder why people wait so long after getting a million mods to get a tune. oh and my car runs sooooo much better after the tune. its allliiivvveeeee... |
