How low can you go?

Does anyone have any experience with lowering a mustang with 20" rims and know how low you can go and not have any major tire scrub issues? I was looking at the bullitt handling kit, which is supposed to lower approx. 1" along with X2 ball joints. The X2 kit comes with some kind of spacer which they say is optional to install. Without it, the car actually gets lowered another 1/2". Is 1 1/2" too low in the front with 20s? My tire size is 255/35/20 in the front if that helps.

Also, when installing these parts, are there any others that must be replaced? Do I HAVE to have C/C plates? Offset rack bushings? Do you recommend the bumpsteer kit? I have basic knowledge of these things with little experience and just don't want to have to go back in later for something that really needs to be replaced during this install with everything already torn apart. I am just looking for the necessities. Thanks for any help.

i didnt even realize you can fit 20's on it to begin with. i have 18x10's with a 2" drop, ive heard my front wheels rub one time when i was parking on a hill but ive had them on for over 4-5 months so one time aint too bad.

yeah i was surprised myself. I bought the car that way. They did have to grind the caliper mount bracket thing just a little to allow for clearance. I have actually heard mine scrub once or twice when turning from a flat street to go up a relatively steep one (hope that makes sense) and that is what worries me about lowering it at all. I have seen pictures of other stangs with 20s that seem to be lowered, but I just wanted some reassurance before I go and drop the money into it.

I recently did some training at a Cingular store in Macon, GA, met a rep there who had 20's and the same Eibach Pro's I have. He said he hasn't had any problems with scrubbing or hitting the fenders. It was a sweet stang except one thing he had custom Louie Vaton interior, it was horrible and quite possibly the ugliest interior Ive ever seen LOL

LOL, Id NEVER put louis vuitton in a mustang. Maybe a ferrari or something but come on. That makes me laugh. Anyway, you might have to roll your fenders to get the 20's to not rub, but youll just have to put em on and see.

Our tie-rods are crappy from the factory so since youll be in there anyways, get the bumpsteer kit and save yourself the hassle down the road. A 1.5 inch drop would technically work with 20s but you also have to think of the little space you have left over for room in your wheel well. Im sure youll have a little bit of brake dive, bottoming out sometimes on like railroad tracks or a pothole, speed bumps. I would stay with a 1 inch drop so your car doesnt look slammed and tucked.
