Electrical issue

Was on my way out of town, after I got gas my car would not start. It made the strangest beeping, all the lights and gauges flashed and my cd player went batshit. The manager at the gas station jumped started the car and I haven't a problem since. I didn't have any warnings, the car ran perfectly up til then. It didn't throw any codes. I bought a new battery but I haven't intalled it. I'm a bit leary of driving the car since being in a foreign country puts a whole new spin on being stranded and if it's more than the battery I want to get it fixed before I'm stranded again.

I think you have either a short or the battery died due to the ice cold air out there. If you don't drive it daily then you're prone to more dead battery issues. The alternator could be an issue as well. I'd replace both, drive for 125 minutes (to get past your battery reserve), have a charging system test run and buy yourself a volts gauge (autometer, I have one for sale. I'll ship to you but you pay the cost of shipping, if you're APO it's probably easier.)

Sounds more like the battery has took a shit (internal connections) or some bad conections at the terminals. This is not uncommon for a battery to do this. Don't hang on to your new one too long or it may lose some power from setting. Clean your terminals and install the battery and connect the positive first and then the negative.

Everything should be good to go. Good Luck, "fingers crossed"
