Welding the Axle Tubes

Are there any benifits for a street/autocross/road course Mustang that will probably never see north of 350 hp? Since I have to weld-in the torque arm this winter and essentially finish the rear suspension, I was thinking about taking the rear axle assembly out, weld the axle tubes and paint it. I haven't researched why to do this other than it strengthens the assembly. I know it's generally a drag racer type of modification, but if I ever start putting race compounds on for open track I would like to not worry about it. Modifications to the car that might matter is 3:73 gears, and a stiff torque arm/ panhard bar suspension after this winter.

You normally weld the tubes if the car is going to be launched at high rpm's and sticky tires. If you do weld them, it will add a little more ridgity to the car. Its one of those mods that people do just to say they did it.

I welded mine because I can weld and have a welder to do it with. I noticed no change in the feel of the car or the handling. 350 hp is not going to enough to twist or break an axle tube. Your Call
