Fuel rails

Anybody know the diameter of the fuel cross over between the fuel rails. And why do all car compnies like barbed fittings

The size of the cross over is 1/4 fuel injection hose. As for question 2, I have no idea.

because they're cheap.

and yes, it's 1/4"

Barbed fittings help keep the hose from coming loose from the fitting.

Tuff I know why they barbed but so cheap. I had just replaced my Alt and was running it to charge and saw gas dripping out the hose, so now I changed the hose all is good til I started thinking with everything else I have done are BBK fuel rails worth and while I'm at it what about injectors.

Have you had the car tuned and if so, did the tuner say anything about running out of fuel? Do you have a bigger pump in the tank or bigger injectors? I know the stock rails will start to starve the motor but I don't know at what size injector.

I have the Professional Procucts blue anodized with 5/8 center. I put this on just because I thought it looked cool. R3d don't like these because of the hold downs have to be bent just a little to get a good tight seal.
You need some additional fittings to make the connection to the fuel line, but I think it was worth it.

Yes it was tuned after cams and intake my tuner said fuel was good but did say next he do a better fuel pump. I also was thinking of the fuel rails for cosmetics and function as winter is coming I get more work done so I was trying some smaller budget things. Cams and intake last year hurt the bank.

TUFF 4.6 09-30-2010 05:20 AM

Yeah, I think its a good choice. Oh yeah, you don;t extra fittings like I said before, I got some extra fittings because I did'nt like the way it connected with the braided stuff I had before.

Look into a pump and fuel rails for the winter mods.Sounds like a plan.

How are those SLP headers holding up?

r3dn3ck 09-30-2010 07:21 AM

I like CPR and aeromotive rails. Nothing even approaches the happy I got from them fitting right. It made the installation a lot simpler. I had to do a lot of mucking around with the pro-prod. BBK usually means broken bend or kinked. Their fuel rails should be fine though. They use a screw on mounting bracket, not a hold over clamp like the pro-prod. Yeah, I don't like them just for that. They're otherwise just fine and if you can deal with the brackets, more power to ya. I think aeromotive are the easiest to deal with in the end.

Thanks guys the SLP HEADERS are major loud fitted out with high flow cats and lm1's not a scrap mark on them color is still good the cats hang a bit low but its not a DD so all should be ok. If anybody goes the slp direction get use to changing speeds running a constant 50 or whatever mph they will drive you fu*kin nuts with noise but every shift delivers a great snap crackl pop that got even better with cams.

You have to admit they were kind enough to make the "conduit clamps" out of stainless:D

Update have fuels rails coming and will be ordering fuel pump and clutch next week or so.
