interceptor motor

is their a difference between my 4.6 in my 99gt 5 speed and a 99 intercepter motor? i may need a motor and found a guy with a intercepter motor attached to a auto trans just want to see if this would work.

idk for sure, but i'd imagine the tuning would be different. for instance the int. motor might be tuned to have more torque then hp because it's moving a large 4door instead of a small 2door. other then that i couldn't imagine it being too different.

no difference except for a higher output alternator on the interceptor. The interceptor package is more about beefing up the suspension than beefing up the motor.

so i could buy an interceptor motor and use my stock 99 gt 4.6 computer and everything- probably doesnt have the same throttle body but i can switch that over.

If you swap the motor, Id use the ECU from the motor going into the car. Not try to make an ECU made for a different motor work.

All 4.6s are the same. Same cam, usually the same heads (don't know when the Vics went to PI heads though), etc. What does change is intake manifolds, and for the 2V heads, that's only in the trucks. Ford is too cheap now to make different versions of the same engine like they use back in the 60's. As long as the P71 has PI heads, use it w/ the Mustang computer.

I heard that there is no difference between the motors the only thing that is different is the triple core radiator on the interceptor.

You guys need to do a bit of research before giving bad advice. There's only one person who was even close to being correct.

The 1999 Crown Vic Interceptor WAS NOT PI!!!!!!!!! So there's a huge difference in the engines. You wouldn't be very happy with that swap at all. Crown Vics didn't go PI until 2001.

Correct PI heads weren't till 01 for the vics. So unless your short block is blown and you want another one then you could use his and swap over your top end and you don't need to swap ECU's or any shit like that.

my friend did the same from 99-99 int, and i dont feel a difference,, maybe alot slower. Anyways we noticed many differences. One of those is the crank bolts. the interceptor had like 6 and his old one had 8 or 10 maybe, but it was noticeably more. Transmission wise, we took the torque converter out of the interceptors transmission figuring biggers better, but it seems to give it more top end. we also went with LT's and switched over the intakes to the mustang intake. Doesnt run like the original but it has that police car sound to it sucking for air, and very raspy out back.
