stuttering

1999 gt 5 speed. my car has been studdering when i push the gas pedal any more than a slight bit in every gear but most noticable in 2nd and higher gears. when i rev in neutral it doesnt cut out at all and in first gear it nearly isnt noticable at all but in other slower accelerating gears it studders all the way until the rpms get up pretty high in the gear. i was thinking maybe its the fuel filter or somthing? do these cars have MAP sensors my friend suggested that may be the issue?

I'd start by cleaining your MAF sensor.

If that doesn't fix it, try changing your spark plugs and wires.

when i had that problem, i cleaned my injectors. go for an injector cleaning. and do a regular tune up while you are at it, wires, plugs.

just had this problem with my 02GT. tried plugs, cleaned MAF, cleaned filter, cleaned TB, cleaned plenum, to no avail. turned out that the EGR valve was stuck wide open, just recycling exhaust over and over. start with the smaller, cheap stuff first, ie cleaning, than check your plugs. if they look clean, use a large wrench to disconnect the EGR pipe from the EGR valve, if it smooths out, you found the culprit.

wheres the EGR valve....pic??

egr valve is on the right side of the throttle body- has a metal tube running off of it that goes past the back of the motor and down to the exhaust.
