blown engine

my car has 192,000 miles and im wondering what causes an engine to just stop working? what are the most common reasons people have to replace their engines? im asking because im thinking about just reusing my block when my engine stops working eventually. is there anything that would prevent me from being able to reuse it? i would probably just get an all forged rotating assembly kit when this happens. what other things should i do to the block itself?

on my v6 stang my rod bearings went out, which locked up my motor

it had about 230,000 miles probaly even somewere around 250K

were u able to reuse the block? what did u do?

yes i did...blocks can be reused up to 2 or 3 times but you would have to take it to the machine shop to get it checked out

i just bored it 0.030 over and just put sealed power pistons/rings, i reused my stock rods though

i couldnt afford forged at the time

how much was it for them to "check it out" and did u bore it urself or did they do that too?

The most common reason people replace stock engines is worn rings and bearings. You can usually reuse the stock block after a trip to the machine shop. Now if you start building a lot of power and have a piston, rod or crank let go there may be too much damage done to reuse the block. You also want to consider how much power you plan to make, be realistic here. You wouldn't want to reuse a even a perfectly fine block if you know you're going to overpower it.
