Rebuild
Anybody know of a good rebuild kit for a 2004 GT
Price is a factor. |
rebuild kit for what? tranny, engine, body, all of the above???
|
He probably means for the engine, due to where he posted it.
|
There is a little more to it then just asking what is the best. Best for what a nitrous motor, a motor that is getting forced induction of some kind? a n/a high compression motor? a stock rebuild?.......

stock rebuild

Just a basic rebuild with new rings etc... or do you need new pistons aswell?
|
Basic rebuild. I Seafoamed it and got the idea.

Before you can order anything the motor would have to come out and then go to a machine shop. After they inspect the motor they will tell you weither or not you will need to bore it out or clean up the cylinder walls which means new pistons would be needed. Otherwise a basic bearing,rings,gasket,etc... kit will take care of you. I never order anything till after its been to the machine shop and neither should you.

Unless you are doing the work yourself, you will be "shocked" at the price tag on having a stock motor re-built. The price to buy everythig is around $1000 (that includes all the internals). Labor is the killer. You can buy a used motor with a waranty for $1300 and a new long block for $2300. Labor is MUCH less with an engine swap especially a long block.

Good call I did not think of that idea either.

Rings-$100
Bearings-$130 New TTY rod bolts-$50 New TTY Main bolts-$50 Head gasket kit w/new TTY bolts $130 New valve seals $40 ...............$500? All the other gaskets can be re-used if care is taken Unless you have ran methanol or some other super adder FUEL, the cylinder walls will be fine(assuming the engine is running fine now) No machine shop required! Just get a good rebuild book for the 4.6l as a guide. |
UPDATE!
I found a stroker kit for $900. I found my project! :D So thats all......
