Fuel Problem?

Will long story short my car has been acting really weird, it break's up underload. I ran in throught the computer all my coil's are good and my sensors. Today I put a fuel pressure guage and hooked it up and when the car break's up the guage went nut's. When you tap on the electric regulator on the fuel rail to the driver side it clear's up from running rough. So where do I get the part? Is it even the fuel pressure reg? I'm confused:confused:

yep it is... you could have a vacuum leak leading to the FPR or you could have a bad FPR. I'd also replace your spark plugs as the random fuel pressure has surely left at least one of them caked wtih carbon.

I replaced the spark plug also with motorcraft. But I can't hear any vacuum leak because my car is alittle loud. lol. Is there another way to see If I have a vacuum leak? Are can I test the FPR with a ohm's reading?

You can get a propane torch and a rubber hose. Connect the hose to the propane source and while the car is idling aim the propane (do not light the torch, you're using it as a fuel source not a heat source) around the engine bay and if the idle cleans up suddenly then you've found your leak. Otherwise, replace the FPR with an aeromotive unit or a stock replacement. They take about 5 minutes to replace.

Spray all the hoses/connections w/ carb cleaner. If there's a leak, you'll notice a change in idle.

i have found that there is no vacuum leak. But my dad did a drop test on the fuel pressure and it does not hold we have narrowed it down to the fuel pump. Any ideas on which one I should get?

Stock is fine unless you have big plans. Then the duel Cobra unit or the Focus and Ford GT pumps are good replacements.

I just replaced the fuel pump today. And for some reason it is still not right. When I put the fuel pressure gauge it slowly drops, with the drop test being done. Any idea's would be helpful

Have you checked to see if the fuel pressure sensor is working properly? Or if you have a 97-prior car, have you checked the regulator?

will that is what I am going to test out tomorrow, but my check engine light came on and I will check it out as well hopeully it is a easy fix
