steering shaft question
Does anyone know what the diameter is around the steering shaft where the bushing normally melts (from heat of longtubes)? I am looking at getting some heat shielding to go around the bushing to keep it from melting and need to know what the size should be.

Just get an aftermarket shaft that doesn't have the POS rag-joint. Maximum Motorsports has some of the best.

I would like to do this but the issue here is cost...I looked at the MM shaft and its $249. This heat shielding is $5-10. |
Well, not sure on the diameter but it's not hard to measure since it located (even w/ headers) out in the open, kind of. However, if you're worried, this is only a band-aid and the MM shaft makes the car feel so much better and precise.
