4.10 gear brands
is there any real difference b/t ford racing and motive 4.10 gears. cause im about to purchase but i dont want to go with motive if they are not as good.

Not much a difference.Ford gears are supposed to be easier to install.
|
I just had the Ford 4.10 gears installed Thursday and I get no gear whine and they make the car pull sooooooo much better. I can cruise on the freeway at 50 and be able to accelerate in fifth at a decent pace.

Only use FRPP gearsets.

I got a ford bearing sitting in my car.

You can use motive. its just as good. Anyone who can install gears can install motives and make them not whine. just like the fords if they are setup wrong they will whine.

I was going to go to a Ford dealership but My friend
just had his 4.10's installed there and he works there! and it came to a little over 700 dollars out the door.. but again how can you put a price on something that you know is going to work right.. |
That is way too much.I have a shop locally that installed my 3:73's for $100.

I just want to find someone I can trust to install
them and them not make any noises.. and who isn't going to charge me an arm and a leg.. |
My Ford dealership said they wanted like $75.00 an hour and the book said it would take 5 1/2 hours to do it.Only good thing is they would warranty thier work.
|
sucks finding sum1 to install them...luckly my dad is a ASE mechanic, so I have some luck with tough projects, plus he has a lift at work which helps too

The warranty is good but think about how many people actually get gears installed by the FORD guys...I'm guessing maybe a few times a month...not too many people are gonna pay 700 bucks. I can't believe your friend works there and stil payed 700 bucks...he goty ripped by his own work place. Now at a reputable shop they probably do at least 6-8 gear swaps a week...Also FORD is quoting 5 1/2 hours? They must take all long break and charge for the time. I had my car done under 3 and they don't whine at all. It's just important to take it to a good known shop. |
