Gas Light Question
I drove from Georgia to Tennessee on Friday, I've been here since. They are going through a gas epidemic out here, everyone is out, and the people that do have gas, the line to get it, is like a mile long.
My gas light came on about 10 miles away from my Sisters house on the highway. So, if my gas light came on about ~10 miles back, and I was driving 90-95 on the highway, how long do I have before I run out of gas, because my gauge says below empty, and I'm afraid that I wont be able to Idle for a mile without my car dying. Any insight PLEASE, this is like a personal Emergency. Lol I need to get back to Georgia tomorrow! HALP! |
if you drove 70 you would not have that problem
you also have a display option in you car that will show you how many miles you have left I believe that option came on all the 05+ my dads 06 has it |
I was just keeping up with traffic lol
People in Tennessee are crazy. Where is the option to see it? The electronic gauge near my speedo only tells me trip, and overall mileage. Am I missing something? I drive an 06 aswell. |
I can't remember exactly how do it but it will pop up in that same spot in might say in your user manuel

I guess I need to take a look at the manual. Thanks for the help.

It didn't say in the manual ! :(
I would siphon a gallon from my sister, but she has an anti-siphon filter. So it would require an electric pump. Which requires gas to go and buy. Lol But yeah, i didn't see it in the manual, I tried calling 3 ford dealerships, all of their menus are disabled. fawk. |
sorry man I don't know what to tell you

Do you have a lawnmower? If so, you might siphon some from there if possible. Also, you could see if any of your friends or neighbors have one of those one gallon gas jugs for lawnmowers. And if it's full, give them like four bucks or whatever it costs for a gallon there now and call it good.
I wish is was that simple man. I want to siphon from my sisters car but it's made after 1990 and it has the anti-siphon filter. BECAUSE SHE FAILS >: ( Lol |
I don't know what to tell you then, man. Sorry.

If you have the info display, to get to the display that shows miles to empty, hit the Odometer reset button until you get to it. If it just shuffles between the odometer and trip miles then sorry, you don't have it. However, when the low fuel light comes on, generally you'll have 2-3 gallons left in the tank. So depending what you average on the highway, multiply your mileage by the amount of gallons. 40 miles is a good, conservative estimate for when the light has just lit up.
