Mustang Cobra Question..... help?
 

I saw the 2004 mustang cobra, they call it the terminator cobra comes stock with 395 hp.. The 2003 cobra is 390 hp as well.. is it a terminator cobra as well? if not what is the difference and also what does "terminator" stand for .. .thanks all

As far as I know both were rated at the same HP numbers and both have been dubbed the "Terminator" or Termi as refered to on most mustang web sites. Engine wise and performance there is no difference at all. Both have the 32 valve 4.6l engine with an Eaton Supercharger pushing 8lbs. of boost I think.

On the outside... the '03 model Cobra was the only one ever offered in the color I THINK its called mystic chrome.. or something like that. The '04 model had a color option in grabber orange or competition orange or something along that line LOL. But I dont think that color was limited to Cobras the way the other paint was. I think they sprayed Mach1s with that color too.

As far as the name Terminator... I think I read somewhere that during production or design process the engineers started calling it that cuz it would (at that time) terminate any competition it came across.

^ Mystic chromes are the 1996 too. I believe the 03 came out and was called the terminator, and since the 04 had the same power we dubb it terminator too. As best I understand it, it's terminator because it kills anything you pull up next to when it's bone stock. :]

Terminator was the code name for it while they were designing it, that's it.

didn't they use the name terminatior because the camaros and trans-ams were finally out of the picture?

They used the name "Terminator" because it would finally end any competition between the Mustang and Camaro/Trans Am.

as mentioned 03 and 04 are terminators
mechanically they are the same; there was a minor size increase made to the '04 catalytic convertors that made a miniscule improvement to mileage but I've never seen a variance in reported HP numbers.

Oh, here are the acknowledged changes between the 2 years

Changes were mainly limited to color and trim. New exterior paint offerings for 2004 were Torch Red (re-introduced after being discontinued mid-year on the 2003), Screaming Yellow and Competition Orange. An optional Mystichrome package with an exterior paint treatment that changes color when viewed from different angles was offered for 2004. Inside the Mystichrome Cobra, the leather seat inserts and the steering wheel cover also shift colors. Interior wise, the 2004 Charcoal Gray seating added dark gray inserts. 2003's were lighter gray. Other differences:
* The 2003 radio decks came with an AUX 20 pin port in the back and the '04 had the SAT button.
* The door lock on the drivers side on '03 Cobras were black, 04 Cobras were chrome
* The 2004 the cats were bigger
* The 2003 had a small interior headliner cargo net. It was deleted for 2004.
* The computer codes were different between the model years
