Best Cold Air Intake?
I am about to purchase a cold air intake...there are so many, all with 'promises' what would anyone suggest? I have a 2000 GT. Thanks!

supercharge it. best cold air intake ever!!! lol on a serious note, i would go with the JLT Ram Air Intake. |
I would recommend a S&B Cold air intake, looks really nice ,made my engine a lot louder, and i can tell that it added a good amount of low torque and hp, it is also a good price at 180$,

+1 for the JLT intake
|
get one from ebay does the nearly the same thing as a brand name but costs less

the S&B CAI looks neat, but I priced it for my car and it was about as much as JLT @ $183:

Remove the silencer on your stock airbox and add a K&N filter. I suggest you use that money instead for something more worth while, like a shifter.

Thanks, I was considering the JLT and the Steeda...but the people have spoken...JLT it is!
|
heres my question, the steeda/JLT/bbk are all around 150-200 but does it make a difference when compared to the 80 dollar aluminum pipe ones u buy on ebay and what not. but the JLT ram is damn sexy under the hood.

The stock intake setup isnt bad on our cars at all. Unless your running a serious heads, cams motor it isn't worth the money other then it looks nicer then stock. Or in my case it was easier to do my nitrous setup the way I wanted with a metal intake setup. Best bet is a K&N drop in replacement filter and pull the intake silencer.

OK

Question, On your S&B CAI intake. Is that the one with the clear lid on box that bolts up to hole in fender, if so it my be the most practical CAI one yet. A little better then the factory setup because it makes a tight seal against fender.

I sold my JLT and moved my fogs inboard and fashioned a scoop that is located where the fog was with a screen in front of the scoop and 4" aluminum piping leads oncoming air into the stock aircan that has an S&B filter dropped into it. I get ambient or lower on my AIT reading when rolling! This is my best! Mark

If you get a chance I would really like to see a pic of that setup.

BBK cold air intake

Don't waste your money, cold air intakes are useless without real power inprovements.Take off the air silencer and get a K&N filter.

I made my own RAI/cai by moving the fogs inboard and fashioned a scoop, put that where the fog was and have 4" aluminum piping lead oncoming air into the stock aircan with the S&B filter dropped in. Just drill a few holes in the first pipe to allow rain water out and no problems. Keep the filter oiled and again, no problems. I can watch the air temp on the handheld and it goes to ambient even after starting out at over 100* after the car has sat for a bit. Fine for me. |

Where's the silencer at? Can someone tell me?
|
Get whichever one you want as long as it is not metal. I have a JLT RAI. JLT, S&B, Demolet (i think it is called Tunable Induction now) are all good.
|
the silencer is the rubber thing that sticks out of the stock airbox and into the fenderwell. Pull it out for a quick 1-2hp gain.
