Shift Point Help Needed

I put a set of 4:10's in my 2000 GT and just bought a Max MicroTuner and all is good with the speedo but I can't seem to find the right shift point set up. I'm thinking I want the Max time allowable from 1-2 and gradually work down from there does that make sence? Or am I looking at it all wrong. :help:

Thanks in advance for your help.

I take it you have an automatic. Are you changing the MPH shift points or just the speed of the shift? If the speed you would want a quick shift and not the max time but the minimum time as that produces less heat and is better for the tranny. I would strongly recommend an external cooler such as the Hayden sold on ebay for about $65. Get the one for the highest rating, I believe mine is rated for 30,000lb. vehicle. Drop a PM if you have any other questions. mark

If you have an automatic, as im assuming, you should definitely go with the j-mod (google it), and a tranny cooler. I have a automatic with 4.10's and im in the process of doing the j-mod, and installing a tranny cooler.

I have been messing around with shift points for the past couple weeks or so and I've tried 5,500 (stock), 5,800, 6K, 6,250 and the best one for me ET wise has been 5,800. I actually would go a little bit less to test it out, maybe 5,700.

You can change each shift point (1-2, 2-3, 3-4 WOT) with a tuner, but i keep them all at 5,800. I am still in the process of tune and testing.
