96 Cobra tranny removal with longtubes
i just bought a 96 cobra with bbk longtubes. the damg tranny got stuck in reverse and now i am in the process of removing the tranny.
Well i can't get them out cause the longtubes won't let the tranny come back far enough to clear the shaft and the clutch. Do i have to remove the longtubes, driver, passenger, or both. and on that, does anyone have or know anyone that has a tranny for that Cobra. It says Borg Warner on the side, is that a common tranny. is it a T-5 or T-45 or what.. Any info would be much appreciated, cause i am at my wit's end on this car..i have only had it for two days, and it's already needing work. |
Your definately going to have to remove the passanger header. OR just get a pry bar and pry the header away from the tranny. I do NOT advise the 2nd but it will work.

removal
well i can't pry it too much, cause the bottom flange is only like less than a quarter inch from the frame. so i guess it's off for the longtube...passenger side at least...haha..
thanks for the info, and if anyone else has some insite, let me know...thanks.. |
