BAD FRONT BEARING-HUB NUT SIZE?
I have to change the front hub due to a bad bearing but before I tear into it I would like to know the nut size so I can go buy the correct size and need to know if I need a deep wall socket for this nut? Anyone have this info? THX.

I used a 1&7/16 inch socket when I did mine b/c I could not find the correct metric size. It worked fine and I think you had to go to 200 ft/lbs too

Yep, 1 13/32" or 36mm and I need to replace the nut with a new one as they are not reuseable, have to get one from Ford. Thanks!

If the nut isn't anything special, just go to your local hardware store to get the right grade/size hardware. Believe me, Ford will rape you for the cost of something simple like that.

$10. from an old thread, special clip to stop it from backing off. Worth beingsafe even if it has gone to $15.! I'll post the cost! THX.

Well I said this since when I installed my MM RLCA, I figure I'd be anal and but new nuts and bolts for it. I paid $20 for 4 nuts and bolts. If I went to the hardware store, the same grade hardware probably would have been 1/2 the cost. This isn't a matter of safety since the bolts are the same grade, but cost. However, if it's something special (like has a tab in it or something), then you have to go to Ford.

the front hub nut is unique and can't be sourced from a hardware store

Yeah, hey have a built in washer and cap to prevent it backing off? I used the old one, parts guy said they do it all the time.
www.tousleyford.com sells OEM parts for 10% over cost, ask for Steve and mention the forums. I have saved 50% on some parts such as an emissions switch, $50. local and $25. from Steve and shipping was about what the tax would have been. THX All, Mark |
