New to mod motors.

Hey guys,
I just bought my first mod motor Mustang a month ago and had a couple of questions.

The car as it sets right now has a K&N in the stock air can with silencer remvoed, BBK long tubes, a Mac Catted H pipe, a Magnaflow cat back dumped, Steeda UD pulleys, Steeda Timing Adjuster, 3.73 gear, Steeda Tri-ax and Bullit suspension, and 16X10 prostar xp's

I drive it everyday and idealy my end goal would be to continue DD'ing it and trapping 105-ish. ET isn't super important to me as I intend to mainly just run street tires on it and I don't care too much about a time as long as the car's fun to me. basicly anything better than a 13.9 would make me happy if I had a good trap.

I'm buying a Diablo Predator from a gentleman tomorrow for a really good price to have for the future.

My question is what do you all think my best course of action would be at this point mod wise? I'm not interested in running a shot, and any forced induction is out of the question for the forseeable future. I'm thinking plenum, 75MM TB, spacer, CAI, aluminum drive shaft, and Dyno tune. Think this would put me at or pretty close to my goal? If not what would you guys reccomend?

And I know bench racing is gay but roughly what would you all expect to run with everything mentioned above on street tires with a good driver, just kind of curious what comparable cars are running.

Thanks

congrats on the stang bro.!!
um,what year is your car?plenum,tb,blah blah i think is a waste of money so dont look that way.you say you only want to run on street tires, why?if you get stickies, you should be set since you have the gears.have you ran your stang at the track yet, and if so what was your numbers?

B-rett 12-26-2007 08:25 AM

with those mods you should already have the 13.9 you want

Dangan 12-26-2007 11:54 AM

Haven't run it at the track yet, the weather here has sucked since I bought it.

So what would you guys suggest then if not the TB and plenum? I can't think of anything else aside from a power adder. And i'll rephrase. I'mnot against stickier tires I just have brand new all seasons on it and I would like to really make enough power for it to be worth my while before I shell out for them.

get a plenum/tb (try to get a used accufab), jlt or demolet induction, and a dyno tune. Stick with a 70mm tb if you're not going forced induction. I would also recommend the SCT Xcal 2 or 3 over the Diablo Predator. You should see 260ish/300ish to the wheels on the dyno. As the car sits now, you should see 13.60's/13.70's @ 102. If you get the induction and tune, you should be in the 13.30's/13.40's @ 104. This is assuming you have decent street tires. Those all seasons aren't going to cut it.

Put mom and the kids in it and enjoy the car.

Thankfully no mom or kids yet. The Mustang and that 105 trap is my priority right now.

So i've been thinking about some mild cams after I do the TB and plenum. What's drivablility like with cams in our cars on stock heads and intake? Does mileage suffer much? And what lift and duration would you all suggest for a daily driver that I want to have fun in? Suggestion for brands?

B-rett 12-31-2007 07:58 AM

i got vt stage 2 n/a cams, mileage didn't seem to change much at all with them and 4.10s i still get 22 mpg highway somehow. Driveability is basically the same.

WaterDR 12-31-2007 08:03 AM

I don't think you will never see 105 trap w/o some engine work or pulling lots of weight. Things like TB and plenums won't get you over the top....you need cams and probably heads as well.

As the car sits, you should already be in the 13's as others have pointed out with a 100 - 102 Trap.

I really think cams are in my future and I decided to order the Xcal 3 last week over the diablo.

good man.

blownstang 12-31-2007 09:21 AM

With full bolt ons, a tune, control arms, and drag radials you should see 105 mph. Cams will put you at 107-108 mph and around 12.70's. VT Stage 1 or 2 (don't remember what the shop is called now since VT doesn't exist anymore), custom cams from Modular Powerhouse, or Hitech Stage 1 or 2 are all good streetable cams. I would persoanlly give the Hitech's a try. Cars with their cams have been posting some really good numbers. (300rwhp/315rwtq)

They were having some internal problems so they went out of business. The guy that was grinding their cams started his own business, and offers the same exact cams, but i don't remember the name of his site.
