Make it like $200 plus the cost of gaskets if you do it yourself, which is very easy to do.

cool so what tools would I need I want to make sure I have everything before I go out and try and fix it on my own

mpt_1962 10-08-2007 06:45 PM

basic tool kit: sockets, ratchet, the gasket, and that should be about it. you should really get a new gasket though.

TJeffer3 10-08-2007 06:54 PM

So how long would you it take to get it all done cause it looks like alot of stuff to take off.

mpt_1962 10-08-2007 07:07 PM

about an hour i would say. or take about 2 hours if you like to chill while you work, maybe drink a cold one, and just take your time with it.

TJeffer3 10-08-2007 07:10 PM

so the shop is really overcharging me. The intake they found is 456 dollars. Dam so they chargin me close to 300 dollars for labor.

mpt_1962 10-08-2007 07:25 PM

uhh...do you have the stock intake and you want to keep the stock intake? yeah you are definitely getting overcharged from them. Get with Randy in the parts section for a intake, buy it from him, get the gasket too, and just install it yourself. If your paying 456, thats almost as much as the typhoon intake and your only getting the stock PI intake. Get with randy and do it yourself, save a few hundred. Then with the money you saved get something else for the car...lol

TJeffer3 10-08-2007 07:45 PM

yeah that was for a dorman intake manifold. Ford charges 700 dollars for the manifold at least thats what I was told. I looked at the manifold that AM sells for 192 dollars so I might go that route

mpt_1962 10-08-2007 07:59 PM

yeah you should be able to get the stock PI intake for around 200. Hit up Randy so you can get the stock intake w/gasket and you'll get the best deal from him.

i did this a few years back on my old 96 gt, when the manifold cracked...i ordered a new manifold that night for like 200, got the manifold around 3 o'clock in the afternoon the day it showed up, started workin right away..i was 17 at the time and had neva done an intake manifold before and i kept gettin side tracked lookin at other things.and i had it done by 6...

ForceFed4.6 10-08-2007 08:16 PM

I have a stock PI intake. Everything need to bolt it up and run. Let me know if you interested.

mpt_1962 10-08-2007 08:17 PM

yeah, see you should be good doing it by yourself and just taking your time.

bassman97 10-08-2007 08:32 PM

Make sure you also have a good torque wrench. You can get SK ones from Amazon for around $90, better than Craftsman. Also, if your gaskets are intact, you can reuse them but you should buy a set, just in case and just return them if not needed.

flyinfox 10-09-2007 02:43 PM

i will sell you my intake with aluminum crossover for 150

mpt_1962 10-09-2007 03:10 PM

well there is your intake...just get the gasket now and your good to go
