2000 GT Oil Gauge on cold start problem

Found the TSB for it, does anyone know the resolution ?

TSB #14907

New oil pressure sender. I suggest getting an Autometer gauge as well since the stock one really only tells you when the car is on or off.

STUPID GAUGE!

That is the case! My engine would be off at idle!

Oil pressure sender. Had the same problem on my 00 GT. If i remember right, it's about 10 -15$ at ford dealerships.

How hard is it to replace ? and what is the location of the sender on the motor.. Thanks

bassman97 08-29-2007 01:24 PM

Fairly easy to replace. The send is located on the oil filter mount on the block (look for electrical lines going into that area).

Yeah, it's right by the oil filter. You might as well change the oil while you're at it because the oil is going to leak out when you're swapping the oil sender anyway.

but how do you add another oil gauge in the mix? You cant unplug the stock one because it will throw off the computer right? So how do you plug in a mechanical guage?

There is a port right under the stock oil pressure sending unit. You take the metal plug out and install the aftermarket sender for the aftermarket gauge. Very easy to do.

The only guages i have are Fuel pressure (for my nitrous kit) and oil pressure along wiht nitrous pressure one on the bottle too.

You could also use a T-fitting if there's room.
