anyone have some before and after CAI time slips?
i am curius as to wethor not i am the only one who gained power froma CAI.
i have the MAC fenderwel and it dropped me almost a tenth and i gained a soild 1mph in the 1/4 mile. i am not sure why every says they dont do anything. or maybe its jsut me. |
it might just be you, or the temp and stuff where you race. I took my mac cai off and put the stock air box with a k&n, and gained a tenth and a mph.
|
Spike, I gain 1 mph on my trap speed by removing the stock air box and pulling the headlight at the track. As far as a kit, I think most of the gain is from the K & N filter.
|
I really like the STEEDA design...It is a straight shot with with a heat shield...I have heard bad things about putting a big curve right before the Mass Air Sensor...also the end of the Steeda filter is another filter which means it is basically open on top, so when you remove the headlight it will give it a 'ram air' effect on the 1/4 mile...not much help, but more than nothing!

CAI's are crap in my opinion..but they do make the engine bay look alot sharper! :)
|
well i am gonna do some back to back testing sunday at OSW, we will see if it helps or slows me down.
|
How did it go!!!?
|
well i got to play with it at funday sunday and i only got in a few runs about 5 total 2 with mac and 3 without and the mac setup was about the same with maybe an extra mph here and there. i am gonna mess with it wednesday on my local test and tune and make my desicence weither or not i will keep it our sell it for a timing adjuster.
but i do belive it was worth a good 1 or 1.5 mph in the 1/4. we will see when i get to make alot more passes cause here the wednesday is very slow i can get aobut 15 runs in to make a better decission. but i also belive that if i pulled my headlight i could get the 1 extra mph out of the stock setup. |
When I put my K&N cold air kit on, I dropped almost 2 tenths, and picked up 1.5 mph in the quarter. THe K&N FIPK is to me, the best on the market right now. Easy to install, very well thought out, and great quality.

I gained 6 mph and dropped 2 seconds with my CAI...................
Just kidding. |
Not sure how true this is... but u have to watch immediately when you change the CAI... apparently it may lean out your fuel mixture for a while until the computer relearns the fuel curve... i.e. you're gonna see a bigger gain the night you put the CAI on then you would a month later which is probably what we "should" be concerned with...
